Next 48 hours are very important, India threatens Pakistan of dire consequences...

RT Monitoring Desk ISLAMABAD: India has threatened of dire consequences to Pakistan after Mumbai terror attacks and the coming 48 hours are very important, military sources said on Saturday.

According to the ARY report the war can not benefit any side but if India imposed war Pakistan will go to the last limit for its defence, the sources said.

In case of war no weakness will be shown at the western border, the sources added.

On the other hand President Asif Ali Zardari warned India Saturday against any ‘over-reaction’ after the militant attacks in Mumbai and vowed the ‘strictest’ action if Pakistani involvement was proved.

“Whoever is responsible for the brutal and crude act against the Indian people and India are looking for reaction,” Zardari said in an interview with Indian CNN-IBN television.

“We have to rise above them and make sure ourselves, yourself and world community guard against over-reaction,” he said according to an interview transcript issued by the Press Trust of India. The Indian government has blamed “elements in Pakistan” for the attack by Islamist militants against multiple targets in Mumbai that left nearly 200 people dead.

Zardari promised that he would take immediate and strong measures if proof was provided of Pakistani involvement.

“Let me assure you that if any evidence points to any individual or any group in this part of the world, I shall take the strictest of action in the light of this evidence and in front of the world,” he said.

Well, we have no casus belli against either country at this point, sovereign countries possess the right to develop their armed forces to their own dicretion, and if you think that UN law should bind a sovereign nation you are no conservative.

Typical cause of death for any democracy, perceived as incapable of protecting the people.

Pakistani government is an oxymoron. They are the most un-ruled people imaginable. I knew one of the Bhutto kids, the family was divided against itself. What this meant was that they were trying to kill each other via poisoning. And that's your top-of-the-heap, Ivy League educated elites. It goes rapidly down hill from there.

The Guy who took the most famous picture is saying that armed police who could have fired back were sitting back an letting the terrorists kill, rather than shoot back.

Easier said than done. Sure, you would have-once you got an idea on what the hell was going on?? Lumbering governments lose take time to comphrehend situations like this, which are unprecedented. Besides, you’re not dealing with a soldier or a gangster, who hopes to go home in the evening.
Fact of the matter is that the Jihadi is a different fighting machine-it’s a heartless beast with endless motivation. Which is why the US is still fighting in Afghanistan and Iraq.

The Indian security forces may have messed up some things, but they acted with what they had. Come to think of it, the death toll would have been far higher than what it was.

My dad was an army grunt at one of the Nevada above ground tests. He stayed in the trench until the pressure wave passed over head. He did get knocked forward by the implosion though. He says staying in the trench an extra 20 seconds before climbing out saved him. The guys who went up and took the pressure wave in the face got full rads. They had to wear the arm band radiation monitors but that was later denied for benefits by the military.

Dad also took the three day pass to Las Vegas rather than bivouac on the desert floor next to the bomb site like a lot did. Also a smart move. But yeah, the effects were all contained locally from what they say.

Yep.
Your dad was right there!

But a lot of people have been convinced by the hysterical left that if India and Pakistan come to blows, we are all dead!

Like this well-intentioned, but grossly misinformed poster on FR.

I made this post to answer this hysteria and have posted it a couple of times to set the record straight. We can't have people swallowing this left-wing hysteria as if it were some kind of science.

It certainly is, and raises the question “why”?

I would suspect either because they were wearing bulletproof vests, and the spec-ops used head shots to kill them, or the spec-ops TRAIN to use head shots because they anticipate opposition wearing bulletproof vests, or the spec-ops TRAIN to take head shots because that is the fastest, most assured way to instantly incapacitate an opponent who may be holding hostages.

I shoot at the same range as the local SWAT team. They practice head shots, on mannequin heads mounted on broomsticks, which they move from the target trench.

Based on this I am not at all surprised to hear that many of the terrorists have their faces blown away. I don't think this will prevent ID'ing the perps at all. There were no (or very few) traces of the 9/11 hijackers left after that attrocity but we still found out their stories pretty quickly.

Ofcourse they should have.

But look at the specifics. The average local armed policeman in India is issued with a revolver or .303 carbine, which is older than him and takes ages to load. With little or no body armour, by the time he loads his weapon, the terrorist would have killed him and a dozen of his colleagues.

>>>>”A few of our fellow Americans who are very special constituents have stayed rich due to business with Pakistan for a long time”<<<<<<<

Thought it might have to do with Pakistan being a narcoeconomy, and maybe “special constituents” being involved in that very lucrative trade.

After all, a daughter of the Shah was a big heroin dealer (according to a friend who worked in Iran for many years); some of Karzai’s family is alleged to be involved in the opiates biz; the fellow who was ousted as PM by Mushareff was brother-in-law of “Pakistan’s biggest heroin dealer”; Army officers in Cambodia were selling big loads of heroin in the 90’s; the kids of the connected and wealthy of Jakarta were deep into the Ecstacy business.

Anyway I’ve sadly wondered whether there’s something kind of like this going on, in US relations with Pakistan.

They don’t convert morphine to Grade A heroin in the wilds of Afghanistan.

Correction-200 people were killed. And in those 60 hours, how many were rescued??? Im not saying that the Indian effort was perfect-far from it. But the security units knew that there were several victims in the hotels-some held hostage, some trapped. IF they operated with the efficiency which only exists in Rambo and Tom Clancy novels, the casualty figure would have been far higher.

Good point. Everyone should buy a copy of "Nuclear War Survivial Skills". It dispels all the myths and gives concrete advice on what to do. Long, medium and short term.

Dirt is your friend.

Wow, I went to find a picture of the book, and found the entire book online! So, you don't even have to buy it. Just print it out!! NOW!!! When you need it the network copy is not going to be available.

you’re sure of the 200 number, with burned out hotels and such? Thats still a 20 or 30 to 1 kill ratio, the numbers are completely reversed in Iraq against terrorist gunmen. 60 hours for 10 guys who killed 300. If thats not incompetent please tell me what is?

Al Queada has switched its short term goal to the takeover of Pakistan. A full-fledged conflict between India and Pakistan plays into this goal. I would not be surprised if this action was planned and executed with this in mind.

The situation in Iraq is far too different to even compare. Why are you talking kill ratios, when the vast majority of those dead are civilians. By that yardstick, ALL major militaries fighting Islamic terrorists would be incompetent. Including the US forces in Iraq.
