Well at least he didn’t laugh at the mere mention of her name like Sanford.

Until Chambliss the last couple of days I think the only Republican that has handled questions about her well at all was Jindal.

She talks the way that Reagan used to talk. She talks about FISCAL RESPONSIBILITY!! She idolizes Reagan and what he stands for. She knows the deal here, she knows what will happen if we allow our Government to take over every aspect of our lives. Socialism will kill this country, Sarah knows that. That’s what she fears, but there are too many idiots who want the Government to take care of them so they don’t look at the consequences

Stop being paranoid.

I write what I see.

She was the most popular figure there.

Yes some of my liberal colleagues ( i.e. 90% of journalists) were trying to “expose her hyprocrisy” which is something they would not do to a Democrat.

However, the Reps are going to have to learn to defend themselves. I came to their defense - and legitimately so - Election night at McCain’s Philly HQ ( read my article or the Human Events piece about it).

However, I cannot be or will not be an advocate for the Republicans. I will point out the bias against them.
I will point out the facts.

What else do you want from me?

I found the quote and I heard Newt say similar things.

There is opposition to Palin within the GOP establishment. She is a threat to them.

Anyone popular with the people is a threat. Remember “Mr. Smith Goes to Washington.”

You're right on Jindal. He's too smart to diss Sarah. He's way above the rest of the pack so far for me.

My only question about Jindal is his fiscal conservatism. With the upcoming budget mess in Louisiana, I'm going to get that question answered soon enough. No more big-government Republicans.

We are way, way, way, past the days of fiscal responsibility, I'm afraid, with the national debt being trillions upon trillions of dollars.

No one is ever going to pay it. The country will be bankrupt or wiped off the face of the earth, first.

Go Sarah Go. First the Senate, then the White House. Unlike our president-elect, Sarah Palin wears well. The more you know her the better people like her. I see her growing into a true backbencher and critic of The One.

I don’t know what exactly Newt said or didn’t say. If he said simply that the Rs should not pick their next candidate just yet, I wouldn’t quarrel with that. However, if his exact words were phrased in a way to make her seem like just one of dozens of R. leaders, rather than the unique and extraordinary leader that she is, then I would object to the pettiness.

Should she be annointed right now for 2012? No, not IMHO.

But should it be recognized that she is clearly high AMONG the leading contenders, and that she excites “the base” more than anyone else out there? Yes, I think that’s a fair and accurate statement.

I have great hopes for her, although I’m not ready to sign on for 2012 quite yet. I want to see her continue to improve, to gain further experience and get re-elected as Governor, and especially to more fully articulate conservative messages in speeches and writings.

Don’t be petty, Newt!

I enjoy her very much....and wish her the very best in all her endeavors.

And now, for some things to pursue while you govern AK: Get a speech coach to neutralize accent, eliminate verbal crutches, and assist with sentence structuring. Hire a briefing book builder and read his/her material daily; subscribe to a clipping and search service; check the daily schedule on the Hill; keep meticulous records of your achievements - perhaps the book deal will assist with this task; travel more; and read at least 1 non-fiction book/week. Beyond that, your political instincts are just fine and your personal style/brand is perfect.

I don’t want her to become a Senator. Look what happens to people when they join the senate, they become corrupt and greedy. Look at Joe Biden, that’s what happens when your in the senate, I don’t want that to happen to Sarah. Besides, most Presidents have been Governors, Reagan, Clinton, they were both Governors. What Sarah needs to continue to do is govern her state, work with Republicans(NOT RINOS) who want TRUE Conservatism to come back, in 2010, run for re-election, and see what happens. I really like Bobby Jindal, he has shown Sarah RESPECT, in fact, he has his own myspace page, full of Sarah supporters there asking him to run with her for President. A Palin/Jindal ticket would ROCK

They were phrased that way. I'm sure others here can corroborate.

good post - I agree with your points!

Most of all she needs to work very very hard on becoming so expert on myriad issues that no one can fairly demean her again (OK, I know the Mediascum will do so anyway). But, seriously, conservative candidates have to step up their game several notches b/c the Mediascum will always be unfair and will always try to exploit any gaffes, etc. If there isn’t a gaffe the Mediascum will make some up, when they’re dealing with the Rs.

Greta, who has turned out to be a total hero this election, has repeatedly pointed out there is no way in hell Palin could have ever gone shopping during the campaign.

I confess that my opinion of Greta changed 180 degrees. She was one of the few media voices that were objective or favorable to Sarah and First Dude.

She gets the pipeline built, she wins the election. It is that simple.

Newt is a thing of the past.

Annie, I agree with your points except the one about accents. Are our presidential candidates not allowed to have accents? (Well, I do think of LBJ and shudder).

Sarah sounds like my Montana relatives, and I like their accents.
