How long would the pipeline usually take? I’m not familiar with how much time it takes. And I agree, Newt is definitely a thing of the past
I think that she is going to be a significant player, said Gingrich during an interview on CBSs Face the Nation. But shes going to be one of 20 or 30 significant players. Shes not going to be the de facto leader. Please notice that Gingrich said "Shes not going to be the de facto leader. (emphasis mine)

She is going to have to bring AGIA/TransCanada and the Denali project together.
Conoco and BP (Denali project) are well ahead in the process and will have an Open season in 2010.
The construction phase would start after 2012-2013.
She will have to get in the position of saying constrution is starting in 2012 to make it part of her resume.
But she will have to learn how to bring the two projects together.
Thanks for your feedback and the kind words.
However, your analysis, in my opinion, is flawed.
Let me point out two significant errors you made:
First, you omitted the title of the Hill piece:
“Gingrich: Palin won’t be future GOP leader”
Second,I was not quoting Gingrich. I was paraphrasing.
He said she will not be a leader.
Tell me what does it mean not to be a “defacto” leader.
De facto means in reality or actually - regardless of lawful authority. Something generally accepted.
Well in that sense there can be no GOP leader without an election. So there can never be a defacto leader because the GOP leader will have to be elected.
However, will she be the actual leader?
I think she is now. Don’t you?
Gingrich was parsing sentences. He is a very intelligent man who is also a politician. It is one of those how white is white things.
Gingrich was hedging his bets so to speak. You have to read between the lines.
Once again, thanks for the kind words.
But shes going to be one of 20 or 30 significant players. Shes not going to be the de facto leader.
This comment is stupid no matter how you quote him. If we had 20 or 30 people in our party that will be “players” on the level Palin is, we wouldn’t be in this mess.
BINGO.
It’s not like Newt said of among 4 or 5.
By stating 20-30 he was trying to marginalize her and ended up making himself look out of touch and of the establishment.
No one would give him a hard time about the comment had the number cited been in the single digits. No conservative would deny Jindal or Sanford in discussion. A couple others. but 20-30? Give me a break.
I'm simply saying it is something she needs to moderate such that it doesn't get in the way of communicating with all the people in the country. Neutral accent is also the currency of the Beltway, academe, and the media. She shouldn't turn into a pol, but she does need to speak like one.
I don’t know for a fact, however, I would be willing to bet that Palin was at her “folksiest” when she was speaking to people in that part of the country where people have that accent. It was genuine for her. I do the same thing when I return to South Philly to rennovate my old house. I start talking like Rocky Balboa again.
The media probably used those clips to make her seem like a hillabilly. Of course, only the liberal intelligentsia - you know those people who are not bigots, prejudiced or racists - would consider demeaning her for it.
Gary Johnson2012!
There’s a big difference in the meanings of
*THE* de facto leader (meaning ONE actual leader)
and
*A* leader. (Meaning one among A NUMBER of leaders)
Again, Gingrich did not say that Palin would not be *A* leader. He said that she would not be *THE* de facto leader. I believe that Newt considers himself to be THE leader, LOL.
Anyway, NEWT, brilliant thinker that he is, has some a few things that just don’t add up. People will have to judge for themselves is this is one of them.
- JP
Every time Hillary went South to campaign she took on her black accent.
Take anything Newt says with a grain of salt, he is planning to run for POTUS in 2012 himself (as he indicated on Hannity’s radio show several weeks ago) so he will be taking every opportunity to marginalize Palin.
Josh, with all due regard, your interpretation is incorrect.
My paraphrase was entirely appropriate.
Newt clearly said she was one of many significant players meaning she was not a leader - not that she was one of a group of leaders or the leader or leading the GOP.
She is just a player. this is what he said.
So next time:
A- make sure you don’t mislead people into thinking I quoted him when I clearly did not.
B-make sure you understood what I wrote before popping off.
Besides I think you make what is “a distinction without a difference” as the saying goes.
Keep trying though. I’m sure you will catch me in a mistake one day. Lord knows I make enough of them.
This wasn’t one of them though.
Maybe one of these days if I have the time or inclination
I’ll play ‘gotcha’ with your blog. See how you like your own medicine.
Thanks again for writing.
That was before Tuesday. I believe that if Sarah is not presently the de facto leader of the GOP she soon will be.
It’s a wonderful trademark and word usage which she doesn’t need to lose....though like anything else, it can’t be overused.
