She was asked about being partners with her campaign opponents about whom she said some unflattering things. She replied that the feelings were "mutual."

Excerpted - “Many consider Mrs, Palin a future leader in the GOP and possibly even a presidential candidate in 2012. She was launched into the spotlight after John McCain chose her as his running mate. Her popularity with the Republican base was immediate.

However, former Speaker of the House, Newt Gingrich, who started the “Republican Revolution” of 1994, said Mrs. Palin is only one of many stars in the Republican Party and she will not be a leader.”

Ok Newt, I am going to try to give you the benefit of a doubt, and hope that they soundbit you, but...I do not think it is yours to say, who will become a leader.

“I still have great concerns,” she said. “When much of the economic problem that we are facing today perhaps was caused by too much debt that solving those problems will not come from incurring more debt.”

This is probably the wisest or one of the wisest statements made at the meeting.

I enjoy her very much....and wish her the very best in all her endeavors.

And now, for some things to pursue while you govern AK: Get a speech coach to neutralize accent, eliminate verbal crutches, and assist with sentence structuring. Hire a briefing book builder and read his/her material daily; subscribe to a clipping and search service; check the daily schedule on the Hill; keep meticulous records of your achievements - perhaps the book deal will assist with this task; travel more; and read at least 1 non-fiction book/week. Beyond that, your political instincts are just fine and your personal style/brand is perfect.

Dear Mr. Tremolgie:

I enjoyed reading your "Palin Power" article in the December 3rd edition of The Bulletin. There is, however, one significant error in it to which I would like to call your attention.

You wrote that Newt Gingrich had said that "Mrs. Palin is only one of many stars in the Republican Party and she will not be a leader."

That is not, in fact, what the former speaker said. Here's the exact quote, linked to the article in The Hill, where it appeared:
“I think that she is going to be a significant player,” said Gingrich during an interview on CBS’s “Face the Nation”. “But she’s going to be one of 20 or 30 significant players. She’s not going to be the de facto leader.”
Please notice that Gingrich said "She’s not going to be the de facto leader.” (emphasis mine)

The difference in the meaning of his actual quote and the meaning of what you reported, "she will not be a leader," (emphasis mine, again) is significant. Your version of Gingrich's statement is grossly misleading.

I'm sure that it wasn't intended as such, as I have observed other journalists making the same mistake when reporting what Gingrich said. The mistake does, however, warrant a correction. It is only fair to both former speaker Gingrich and Governor Palin to set the record straight.

Your attention to this matter will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks and regards,
