People believe global warming exists. People believe in a thing called chemtrails. But are chemtrails what people think? What if chemtrails are poisoning us. What if normal contrails are the visible elements of which are poisoning us?
Planes have been known to produce contrails. When the humidity is high in the upper levels, with sub-freezing temperatures, lines in the sky form behind planes. These are known as contrails. Many planes take the skies daily, and many atmospheric conditions can form these trails. What is in them?
The chemtrail theory states that the government or formal nearby agency, is bringing hundreds of planes to the table, spraying our skies. These normal trails are thought to be deliberate spraying by our government. While it could sound crazy to some, the trails in the sky are not that. They are not spraying us through Southwest, American, or United Airlines, from which I've taken my telescope to and seen with my own eyes, these trails that come from the known airliners.

Are you sure? B-52 and KC-135 aircraft were flying at those altitudes over 30 years ago. ;o)

Remember too, the ability to produce a contrail is dependent on the amount of air the engine is aspirating and exhausting. Even those big old radial piston engines on the airliners and military planes 60 years ago ingested very little air compared to one of the huge engines that powers todays biggest twin-engine airliners. The more air they suck in the more they exhaust. I'm not sure of the actual measurements in cubic feet per minute, but it's an amazing amount of air.
As long as the air is sufficiently dry at altitude to take the moisture in the exhaust without having it condense you won't see the vapor. But once the air is saturated the additional vapor condenses and that's the trail we see. I used to work at a major daily newspaper and would ride up on the elevator every day or two with the chief meteorologist from the TV station in the same building and asked him one day what determines if there's a vapor trail. He said he didn't know, but would find out. Wow, he came back in a couple of days and had a detailed explanation, most of which I have long since forgotten. It make perfect sense though. At the time.
Another determinant is how much wind is present at altitude. If there's a stiff breeze, like 70 or 80 knots, then the trail is dissipated very quickly, but if it's calm the trail can linger for an hour or more.
The fuel being burned by today's aircraft is significantly different from that used in the post WWII days, and that could also affect the production of vapor trails.
Whatever, I love them! I've always been fascinated by aviation and it used to thrill me to see those trails way up there when I was a kid in Central Florida in the early 50’s. I guess since I grew up seeing and loving them I don't have the fear of them youngsters might today.
The best trails I ever saw were those produced when a B-36 was being fueled in the air by a KC-97. The combination of the turbine props and pure jets on the B-36, plus the radial engines on the tanker made for a very impressive trail. Not to mention the sound it made. You wouldn't even have to look up to know what was passing overhead, the sound was a dead giveaway. We have a church member, an old fart, who was a crew chief on the B-36, he has some neat stories about that period in aviation. He's still flying, but is about to lose his medical because of his blood pressure. He owns a magnificent Cessna 195 that's used for aerial photography. He keeps promising me a photo shoot on a flight but it's never worked out. I've probably missed the window now.
Sorry to go on and on like this, but it sure brings back memories. MacDill AFB in Tampa, where I lived as a youth, had B-47’s, Globemasters, C-119’s and all sorts of neat aircraft through the years. We lived a tad off the final approach for their long runway and got to see all manner of neat aircraft coming and going. Even saw the Shuttle landing there once when the Cape was weathered in unexpectedly. I would love to see them take a retired shuttle, put it on the back of it's ferry 747 and take it all around the country, landing for a day at any airport big enough to handle it. Maybe it's just me, and the aviation-loving 10-year-old of 1950, but it sure gave me goosebumps seeing it, especially when I had wasn't expecting it! I heard the noise, looked up and there it was!

Yep. But the fact that someone actually having to write an article about such a myth is sad. It's like having to write an article proving that Bush and Cheney imploded the World Trade Centers on purpose in order to set up a totalitarian government.

I spend a lot of time outdoors. I have seen several blue skies turned into cloudy ones after a lot of planes flew their grid pattern. The trails will spread out until they cover the sky.
With all due respect, those two sentences are wildly incompatible. Welcome to FR.
