TALE OF TWO FREEPS - Walter Reed (Wk 189) and Olney (Wk 151), 11-28 & 29-08: Op. Infinite FReep
Dec. 04,2008

Posted on 12/04/2008 4:19:13 PM PST by trooprally

Thanksgiving Weekend and I have the privilege of filling in for the regular writers (BufordP, Jimmy Valentines Brother, Kburi and Tom The Redhunter) of the Walter Reed FReeps. I shared the photo taking with Plea Deal tonight. Our other photographers are VAFlagWaver, [Mrs] T, Kburi and Tom The Redhunter.

Both FReeps had their own excitement but in very different ways.

WALTER REED REPORT for Week 189 - Nov. 28,2008

Freepers at Walter Reed this Friday after Thanksgiving were Lurker Bill, Cindy_True_Supporter, Kburi, Plea Deal, RongKirby and myself using [Mrs] T’s camera for several pics. While our numbers were small, so was the traffic (BELOW) and the excitement. Surprisingly, we received a good number of honks and waves, percentage wise, from passing vehicles. And more importantly, we occupied all four corners, all night.

While setting up a police car was stopped at the light with his window down. We wished him a Happy Thanksgiving and thanked him for patrolling this night. I then commented on how slow things were. He quickly shot back, "don’t say that!". So I took back my comment, not wanting to jinks his quite night.

Plea Deal provided her observation of this night:
"There aren’t many pics, but then again, not much happened. I guess that’s one of the things we had to be thankful for this Thanksgiving FReep. There was very little traffic coming and going from the hospital which thankfully meant that most folks were on leave and home with kith and kin. There was very little traffic anywhere for that matter. I thankfully made it from Poolesville to Walter Reed in less than an hour!

There were 6 of us on the corners, and 6 stinking pinkos waaaaaay down the block. We gave thanks to Cindy-true-supporter for bringing a full compliment of goodies like coffee and cookies. The weather was thankfully warmer than last week and since there was no “dinner bus”, we could knock off a little earlier.

A couple of hours thanking our troops and their family members was a great ending to a Thanksgiving Week!”

The BIG excitement of the night was when a metro bus stopped right at the northwest corner where Kburi and I were standing. Metro buses NEVER stop there, probably since the nearest bus stop is a block and a half away. A young lady and older guy got off first but didn’t go any where. That’s when we noticed the bus extending its handicap ramp and a wounded soldier wheeling himself onto it.

The soldier had recently been wounded. The young lady was his girl friend, a soldier from the Ft. Bragg, and a member of the 82nd Airborne. The older guy was the father, a Vietnam Vet. We thanked all three for their service and talked for a little bit. The father was aware of FreeRepublic but the girl friend didn’t. After a quick explaination of why we were there, they headed into Walter Reed. Sorry, no pics.

BELOW LEFT: Cindy_True_Supporter and Plea Deal with a few extra signs. BELOW RIGHT: Lurker Bill always thanking passing supporters. He often has conversations with cars stopped at the light. Pic by Plea Deal.

Obligatory pic of moonbats but it doesn’t mean you have to see them. :-)) Pic by Plea Deal.

OLNEY REED REPORT for Week 151 - Nov. 29,2008

As at Walter Reed the night before, our numbers were small. We had 7 Patriots in Olney this Saturday. We were Legionnaires Glenn (WWII - Iwo Jima), Francis (Army - WWII), and George (Army - Vietnam), Lurker Bill, Cindy_True_Supporter, iMacMan and myself, [Mr] T.

While the moonbats had one more person than we did, our honks and waves were overwhelmingly in our favor.

All pics were by iMacMan. [Mrs] T and I were not at Olney when he showed up several weeks ago, so it was real good to get caught up on news.

Our excitement this Saturday was at least a 3 alarm fire call to the pizza place in the shopping center behind us. I counted a dozen emergency vehicles. George is a chief for the local volunteer fire department. I caught him out of the corner of my eye running from our corner to his vehicle. I soon understood why. Apparently he heard the 911 call on his radio and left immediately.

And then the emergency vehicles started showing up. Our normal procedure is to lower our signs when an emergency vehicle comes down the road. We don’t want to distract the cars as the emergency vehicles zip though the intersection, usually against traffic. But the moonbats think differently. They keep their nonsensical signs held high. (BELOW)

(BELOW) Looking to see what’s up. Glenn on our far left flank, me, Cindy_True_Supporter, Francis and Lurker Bill. There were no emergency vehicles coming by at this moment, they were already in the parking lot, hence L. Bill had his sign up.

We figured there was a serious problem when the pumper truck laid out its hose. The pumper truck blocked one entrance to the shopping center and the emergency vehicles blocked the other. There were cars driving around the parking lot looking for a way out. They were stuck as we were but we had about 45 minutes before we were to leave.

After a while, George finally came back, picked up his sign and began to FReep. He said that the employees turned on the heating system and the motor burned out, sending black smoke all over.

(BELOW) Some pics of the mess in the parking lot.

(BELOW) Fire truck leaving the “fire” showing their support of our rally.

(BELOW) And of course there is always these two sisters. They come by every week and we gage out time by their arrival. They are also very supportive, talkative, and always smiling.

And then there is US. BELOW LEFT: Cindy_True_Supporter. BELOW RIGHT: Glenn and Francis on our far left flank.

With iMacMan back, we have some great pics of passing supporters.

But first, the flags flanking our rally, left and right as shown..

Just a little more excitement. (BELOW) Several months ago a local organization decided to put answers to questions on video. One common question was about the two groups on the corner every Saturday AM. She took some video and actually put together a good show on a locally broadcast cable station. Now some questions have come up about what we will do now that Obambi has been elected. So she was back interviewing Lurker Bill and Cindy_True_Supporter. We’ll have to see if the show is as good as the first.

Thaa Thaa That’s all follks!!!

Heads up FReepers, this week’s FReeps will be cold.

Thanks for all of your work, including great reports.

I just finished watching a video (20 minutes) on msnbc of an interview with President and Mrs. Bush.
http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/21134540/vp/28058011#28058011

The president said that his mission was

to help America to achieve its greatness,
and
to help the world become a peaceful place.

Lofty goals, clearly stated!

You can let the Quackos across the street in Olney know what he said. A lot more definitive than ‘hope’ and ‘change.’

Thank You.

Pres. Bush has his faults but nothing like we’ll be getting with Obambi.

I’ll let CTS know about your ping. She’ll be here today helping [Mrs] T set up for Saturday.

Like the title! Great AAR on both FReeps, [Mr] T! Thank you all for your dedication to supporting our troops.

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas with those lights!

Legs, you are a true troop rally-er. I can’t help but notice that you are ever faithful on Friday night and Sat. You are an inspiration to the rest of us who need to remain faithful to whatever causes we engage, as well as our callings in life. Thank you (seriously this time) for being there. I appreciate you.

You are welcome. I guess it helps when we have a “dog in the fight”, literally. Between our son and two nephews, all Marines, we always have some one in Iraq or Afghanistan. While all three are stationed at Camp Lejeune, they have different MOSs so they really don’t see each other when over there.

“... true troop rally-er” - Nice play on words.

Thanks, and thanks for the help with the WR AAR. It’s always easier to do with input from FReepers.
