Popular [Governor] Sarah Palin opens up her mansion
The First Post's Palin's Progress: News, Gossip & Comment on the GOP's First Lady ^ | December 10, 2008

The words 'Sarah Palin' have emerged as the fastest rising search query in Google's highly regarded end of year 'zeitgeist' rankings. The former vice-presidential candidate beat President-elect Barack Obama who ranks only sixth on the list.

In the physical world too, Palin continues to drum up support. On Tuesday the Alaskan governor opened up her governor's mansion in Juneau to more than 3,000 members of the public. "Thanks for coming over. Merry Christmas to you," Palin repeated over and over again, accompanied by seven-month-old Trig Palin (pictured, during the campaign) dressed in a Santa suit. Visitors were offered their share of 25,000 cookies bought for the event, provided with hot drinks and given a tour of the property.

Elsewhere in Alaska the turkey bloodily slaughtered in the background as Palin gave her infamous Thanksgiving TV interview has been sold for $225 on EBay. "Gobble up a slice of Alaskan history," boasted the listing. "This is the official turkey from the video which comes with a letter of authenticity signed by the farm's owner."

Half of the proceeds of the sale are due to go to the local Department of Veterans' Affairs. "The lucky winner of this turkey will have something to talk about for years and years to come," wrote the enterprising farmhand. "Thank you for viewing my auction and God Bless America."

It looks like they’re touring a hospital in her capacity as Governor.

“BTW... THE FR RULES CLEARLY STATE YOU MUST PROVIDE A PICTURE WHEN DISCUSSING ANN OR SARAH!!!”

Some of us see Governor Palin as a conservative leader not a sexy, unmarried columnist.

Personally I don’t want to see every thread consist partially of a photo rule that sexes up Governor Palin.

“..it’s the ceremonial residence in Juneau.”

I think it is more than ceremonial, but I may be wrong. I would imagine she “lives” there for extended periods when the reps. are in session, bills trying to get through, etc. But I would think most of her time is spent working from Wasilla to be with her family.

I have NO IDEA what the housing arrangements are of my Governor! I would imagine that governors with no strong ties to their community (kids in school, spouse’s business, etc) would probably use the Governor’s mansion, along with all of the perks, as their primary home?

How can people hate this woman? She represents what the USA should be.

Respectfully, ma'am, I believe that you have answered your own question.

Good point about Palin and Obama. I was being (partly) faceticious about “emigration,” but I bet there will be people moving there, especially if it becomes a bastion of relative freedom in a socialistic America.

Thanks for response!

She is just so awesome!! Show me any other Governor who opens up the governor’s mansion to invite thousands of residents over to celebrate the holidays. She is just such a breath of fresh air. I adore this woman and I will be so proud to vote for her as the next President of the United States

Again to deny her credibility as a major ‘player’ is foolish for any troll. By the way Sarah Barracuda thanks for letting me know about Sarah not supporting the $700B bailout. Sorry, but the info has spread to other threads. Hope that it doesn’t get you in trouble.

It is simply the "Governor's Mansion." She stays there when she is in Juneau when the legislature is in session. Otherwise, I believe she is at home in Wasilla, and commutes to offices in Anchorage.

You can post a respectable picture of Governor Palin, as was done on another thread where she is shown standing in front of the decorated governor’s mansion. I did not suggest anything improper, but was being more tongue in cheek.

Thanks. A respectable photo; but, how did someone get that shot? I mean: In a hospital? Piper does not look too happy about it.

“THE FR RULES CLEARLY STATE YOU MUST PROVIDE A PICTURE WHEN DISCUSSING ANN OR SARAH!!!”

OK, but this request by different posters shows up on a lot of threads, we should all discourage it. We are going to have to battle the left’s attempts to sexualize the Governor. Ann and Governor Palin have different status to conservatives and our standards of leering.

From the Juneau Empire several years back when Frank was in power - THe Empire the local newspaper at the Capitol This open house has been on on-going trdition since 1913, except for WWI and WWII.

The Governor's Mansion opened its doors to the public Tuesday to continue a 92-year-old Christmas tradition.

About 2,151 residents came by for Christmas carols, cups of hot cider and platefuls of snacks. They also toured the first floor of the home and lined up to shake Gov. Frank Murkowski's hand.

"I would describe him as a kind and generous man," said Gabe Reyes, a boy who attended and met Murkowski.

Please don't gush, Sara is doing nothing more than any other Alaskan Governor for like 92 years.

No Grinch here, just some history

See
http://www.juneauempire.com/stories/120705/loc_20051207020.shtml for more on this long standing tradition.

Wouldn't be surprised if Gov Palin made them all. Seriously though, episodes such as this show what an altruistic, benevolent and unselfish character this grand lady has.
