President George W. Bush is leaving with one of the lowest approval ratings in the history of numbers. During his final months on the job, the controversial commander-in-chief has given several interviews that have revealed how he views his legacy. Here are some highlights...

Soul not for sale One of the president's most interesting sound bites came during his interview with FOX News. He said: "I didn't compromise my soul to be a popular guy." The quote is an acknowledgment that the president is well aware that he's about as popular as taxes and chicken pox. Bush went on to say that he would have liked to have been more popular, but he's proud that he didn't sacrifice his integrity. And that includes Detroit's bailout

What Bush regrets During a rather candid interview several weeks ago, folks heard something truly surprising from the president—an admission that he was wrong. Bush said that his "biggest regret" was that he and his team got the intelligence wrong in Iraq.

What he'll be thinking on his last day Anyone who has ever changed jobs knows that the mix of emotions can be quite strong. It's no different for presidents. Chief among Bush's thoughts before entering what he jokingly referred to as "forced retirement" will be well wishes for President-elect Barack Obama. Said Mr. Bush: "I'll be wishing President-elect Obama all the best, genuinely be wishing him all the best."

“W did great damage to capitalism with his extremely poor economic leadership.”

Give me some specifics. Just what did Bush do to tank capitalism? He can’t legitimately be blamed for the collapse of the market in the Fall of 2008.

It would be if the deals weren't set up to deny the Federal Government common stock in the companies and to encourage the repayment as fast as possible. There's more to it than giving cash. Bush guaranteed that the auto companies won't have to make little green cars to satisfy Pelosi.

and yes....right again....Clinton was more fiscally conservative....

it’s funny how things go....I wonder what it would have been like had Gore won...he probably would have had a weak response to 9/11 and we would have gotten somebody different in 04....probably Mccain...no win in any situation

W gets an A+ (from me) for keeping us safe. He gets a A for the tax breaks. The rest of his grades are Ds and Fs (IMHO).

He claimed to be the reincarnation of Ronald Reagan, but in the end proved to be another big government, big spender. He lacked strong communication and leadership skills, which are essential to the job. In many ways, he tried to be too many things to too many people and, in the end, nobody really knew what he stood for anymore.

When you lack a strong compass, it's easy to lose yourself in the stormy seas.

" Just what did Bush do to tank capitalism? He can’t legitimately be blamed for the collapse of the market in the Fall of 2008."

For starters he's wasted $1 trillion on a war in Iraq that even he now admits was based on weaselly intel and intent; He's kissed the ring (and arse) of Teddy Kennedy and the socialist left and spent the taxpayers' money like a drunken Democrat...

He'd personally touted the use (and waste) of $440 billion dollars for the ridiculous CRA (ACORN wanted it) towards deadbeats so they could buy (yet not afford) housing, thereby helping create the calamitous housing market collapse...

George w. Bush and his NWO-globalist puppeteers have caused tremendous damage to our economy.

If Bush went on a podium after 9/11 and said “we need to close the nations borders immediately.” The borders would be closed, it would be a fight, but a winnable one in the post 9/11 world. If he said “we can no longer rely on the state to feed and cloth us, we must sacrifice and rely on ourselves”, he could at least try to roll back the Great Society.

You can’t win if you don’t try.

President Bush has given America almost uninterupted ecnomic prosperity. He helped overcome the Democrat caused recession of 2001, and gave us 7 years of uninterrupted job growth, until 2008. The current recession/depression is the fault of the Democrats who encouraged granting mortgages to unqualified borrowers.

You're ascribing way too much credit to any President's ability to move our economy. He deserves credit for cutting taxes, just as he deserves scorn for forgetting the whereabouts of his veto pen.

There was plenty of uninterrupted job growth in government, no doubt about that.

The current recession is due to "Washingtonians", the forbears of the Morlocks. They have many subspecies: Republicans, Democrats, lobbyists, unionists, progressives, conservatives, journalists, politicians. They live off the sweat of the productive citizens of our society. Washingtonians control every lever of power in the country, and survive by giving favors to those who allow them to rein.

If you really think history will look kindly on Bush you are fooling yourself. Even if he hadn’t made the massive mistakes they would not give him credit for anything. The thing you cite as a reason history will favor him will be the #1 reason he is denigrated because historians will never recognize that the War on Terror had anything to do with our safety.

And while I acknowledge his success in keeping there from being another 9/11, that in no way excuses the fact his policies in so many other areas were bad for the nation and the conservative movement.

First of all, Dubya Bush couldn't run a lemonade stand by himself.

Secondly, I agree with you - there is NO way Bush "acted alone to destroy anything"; He needs help to match his socks. Bush is just a mere hood ornament of a cadre of New World Order elitists. Their mission is obvious: NO borders. NO sovereignty. ONE currency. Water down American Patriotism. A new House of Lords. Tamp down the upper-middle class. Divide and Conquer.

The CFR, Bilderbergs, and Trilateral Commission membership appreciates your blind-eye to the obvious.

Bush refused to fight back. Ergo, he’s a loser by default. Spending like a drunken Liberal hasn’t helped either.

God Bless President Bush. History will regard him as one of America’s greatest heroes. Saved the country - and what remains of the Free World - from the menace of Islamist terror.
