Well said. More than a few TV Evangelists have fallen painfully and publicly, so he wouldn’t be the first and probably not the last either.

A grade of C-, with possibly a more favorable view in history? That’s wielding judgment and holding President Bush to a harsh standard? I’ve heard far, far worse from FReepers. Pat Robertson supported him. He has a right to criticize his performance. God is not going to punish Pat Robertson for saying, and saying fairly gently by FR standards, that President Bush has been disappointing in several ways.

As far as being pleased with Obama, I think he’s being too charitable. But, there being no performance to criticize as yet, I suppose he’s trying to be hopeful.

It’s at times like these that I truly believe that the whole nation is in a state of delusion. How can a man like Pat Robertson in any way give credit to Obama...a man who has voted for infanticide. It must be the grand delusion of which the Bible speaks OR he just wants to be popular like the rest

“The Katrina matter was terrible.

That was Pat Robertson's own fault. He could have prayed harder and diverted the storm back over Cuba.

You would think that the folks running his ministry would keep him back at the home under lock and key. :-(

Yup.

> I’ve heard far, far worse from FReepers.

Not this one.

> Pat Robertson supported him.

With friends like that, who needs enemies?

> He has a right to criticize his performance.

Why? I bet Pat Robertson couldn’t do a better job as POTUS than GWB. Criticism might be fair if it came from Reagan or even Clinton. Or Bush Sr, even.

> God is not going to punish Pat Robertson for saying, and saying fairly gently by FR standards, that President Bush has been disappointing in several ways.

Just as likely God will say to Pat: “Who art thou that judgest another man’s servant? to his own master he standeth or falleth. Yea, he shall be holden up: for God is able to make him stand.”

Bush hasn’t had a perfect eight years. Nobody has. On balance, over eight years, GWB has done a much better job than either AlGore or John Kerry would have. You Yanks have been jolly lucky to have had GWB at the helm, considering your alternatives.

> As far as being pleased with Obama, I think he’s being too charitable. But, there being no performance to criticize as yet, I suppose he’s trying to be hopeful.

I find it difficult that a Christian such as Pat Robertson could have anything positive to say about a muslim that hangs around with terrorists and blasphemers. But then, maybe Pat sees something redeeming that I don’t.

He praised his cabinet choices. As far as Obama's support of abortion, in all its abhorrent forms, you know good and well where Pat Robertson stands.

This story comes from CNN. Do you think the quotes might have been arranged for the maximum, CNN-approved effect? Naah, CNN would never do that.

I agree that Bush has been a bad president, but it’s a bit gutless for Robertson to come out now with his criticism after the fact. Why not say anything as these events were happening?

I do give Bush credit for leading the way in protecting us from another terrorist attack, but that’s to be EXPECTED of any president. It’s a case of ‘thanks for doing your job’...

With Clinton being so bad, even bringing attacks upon us with his joke of a Justice Department and photo-op foreign policy, it makes any president that simply shows up for work when it comes to national security look great by comparison.

No disagreement from me on this point, and I honestly doubt you'd get any from Pat Robertson, either.

I’d say GWB displayed superb leadership throughout his two terms.

On what? Name something besides the war. And, name something that a conservative would be proud of.

"As far as being pleased with Obama, ...."

I was pleased simply that Obama kept that effing shrew Hillary out of the Oval Office.

After that, well, it is Clobbering Time.

I have little else use for this Creep.

The war was his key, defining issue, and it is arbitrary and wrong to exclude that when evaluating his overall performance. It should receive most of his performance weighting. All else — quite rightly — is small stuff by way of comparison.

As a war-time president he did a very good job. Much better than FDR, for example.

He would have been an abject failure in 9/11 was able to happen more than once.

As to the “small stuff”, the Illegal Aliens issue would be tops, followed by this current Financial Crisis. He would have scored a near perfect mark had he nailed these bonus points.

Still, I’d give him 85%.

Hmm what’s that gurgling sound... oh yes it’s the sound of Pat Robertson’s relevancy swirling around the drainpipe of history.

Well, that raises a point since all the other stuff, according to you is "small stuff". What would legacy be without the war? Take that away and what would you have had? A president who wants open borders. A president who, apparently picked mostly turncoats for his cabinet. A president who picked a lot of inept people for his cabinet.

As to the “small stuff”, the Illegal Aliens issue would be tops, followed by this current Financial Crisis. He would have scored a near perfect mark had he nailed these bonus points.

The invasion of the United States by over 15 million foreigners is not "small stuff". How would New Zeelanders react to an invasion of millions of foreigners? Would you call it small stuff and let your president have a pass?
