NBC BANS COULTER FOR LIFE; CUT FROM 'TODAY' SHOW OVER BOOK'S CLAIMS, NO MORE CABLE
Mon Jan 05 2009 17:50:57 ET

The nation's top selling conservative author has been banned from appearing on NBC, insiders tell the DRUDGE REPORT.

Banned for life!

"We are just not going to have her on any more, it's over," a top network source explains.

NBC's TODAY show abruptly cut Ann Coulter from its planned Tuesday broadcast, claiming the schedule was overbooked.

Coulter was set to unveil her new book, GUILTY.

But one network insider claims it was the book's theme -- a brutal examination of liberal bias in the new era -- that got executives to dis-invite the controversialist.

"We are just not interested in anyone so highly critical of President-elect Obama, right now," a TODAY insider reveals. "It's such a downer. It's just not the time, and it's not what our audience wants, either."

For the book, Coulter reportedly received the most-lucrative advance ever paid to a conservative author.

The TODAY show eagerly invited the author months ago, for her first network interview on GUILTY.

The exclusive was to air during the show's 7 AM hour. The cut came Monday afternoon.

Executives at NBC TODAY replaced Coulter with showbiz reporter Perez Hilton, who recently offer $1,000 to anyone who would throw a pie at Ann Coulter. Hilton is also launching a new book this week, RED CARPET SUICIDE.

"Got any suggestions beyond Bush/McCain style "bipartisanship" [read: caving]?"

I've never used the "B" word in my life, far from it. I want to see our party leaders NOT get along. I want them fighting. Fighting on the House and Senate floor; fighting in every print, radio and television interview they give. I want to see them ATTACK. Attack DEMS; Attack Libs; and most importantly - I want them to start attacking the media, frequently, feverishly and personally.

But, to pretend that the media is going to die some time soon or late (as many on this board do) I think is a grievous mistake. Someone said in an early post on this thread that conservatives should never even appear on NBC and the like. This could be the stupidest thing I have ever heard.

Voters watch television news and read papers despite claims to the contrary. If conservatives and Republicans don't start fighting for these voters as if they are fighting for the very existence of the country - then that's what we'll have - the end of the Republic.

My message would be start engaging, start fighting and stop trying to "just get along."

I wonder what she wrote about them? It must be something true or they wouldn’t care.

If it was anything they could plausibly disprove, they would have fun making fun of Ann.

If it wasn't something that would have a dramatic effect on Obama's popularity or the MSM's credibility, they wouldn't have been so upset.

Yeah, right, your multi-year coverage of Iraq was so uplifting, glorious and patriotic. What's good for the Bush, is good for the Bambi! Stick that in your piehole, NBC (nuclear, biological, chemical arseheads)!

Perez Hilton, who recently offer $1,000 to anyone who would throw a pie at Ann Coulter.

Toss in covering the resulting legal and medical bills, and I'll take accept.

Doesn't mean I'd HIT her, since the offer only states 'throw at'.

I'm a notoriously bad thrower. ;-)

I guess I’ll have to buy Ann’s book, since I’ve banned NBC. Be proud Ann. The O’s cult kooks will try to purge the world of anyone who doesn’t worship their effeminate demigod.

Amen!

Sorry for my wording earlier, didn’t mean to suggest that’s how I read your post, it’s how I read the Republican “leadership.”

Must be a accurate book. Just ordered at Amazon.

On Amazon, it's currently ranked #46 in overall books. Within its categories, it's:

#1 in Books > Nonfiction > Current Events

#1 in Books > Nonfiction > Social Sciences > Political Science > Political Doctrines > Conservatism

#4 in Books > Nonfiction > Politics

I doubt Ann is bothered. She’s probably thrilled since it’ll create more publicity and spike sales.

Silly me, I was under the impression that the press was supposed to be skeptical of all politicians, regardless of their politics. Television news has never had any credibility with me. This is why.

‘You know it. Maybe Oprah will invite Ann to come on her show to discuss this, since Sarah Palin has basically told Ms FatAzz to shove it, LOL ‘
Did she really?

It's my understanding that Governor Palin has declined to discuss any possibility of appearing on Oprah, and Oprah is apparently quite miffed about that.

The irony is that is exactly what Ann Coulter has been doing, which is why they have banned her. Even if Ann had been "interviewed", they would have used the opportunity to attack her and her book.

They seem to have become wise to the fact that her appearances boost book sales regardless of how they treat her, so they have decided to go this route.

"Read what I actually said, becasue it seems to be different than what you read"

I thought you were implying that the media establishment as it exists today is going somewhere or dying. If I came across as sarcastic, then I apologize.

I just don't think that the MSM is going anywhere for the foreseeable future. It might get a little smaller, but it's still going to control 90% of the content.

There are conservative websites, a few conservative papers, and a fairly conservative cable network, but that's where it ends. They are content aggregators and commentators with very little (relative to the rest) creation of content. But, the people that actually control the creation, and distribution of the vast majority of news, entertainment and even web content are now and will be for a very, very long time liberal.

My larger point is that conservatives can't ignore this fact and pretend that it's going to change anytime soon. But rather, our conservative party leaders and politicians have to start doing a better job of meeting this media monster, head on and fighting it.

Perez Hilton, the perfect commentator for NBC (big joke) and for the new Stuart Smalley Senate (bigger joke)
