Connecticut To Consider Transgender Anti-Discrimination Proposal
Hartford Courant ^

Posted on 01/06/2009 8:16:15 AM PST by Blue Turtle

Transgender activists believe this is the year they will gain equal protection under the state's anti-discrimination laws.

"We feel good," said Jerimarie Liesegang, who leads the Connecticut TransAdvocacy Coalition. "We've done the groundwork, we've done the education and we know we have the votes."

A proposal, to be introduced in the legislative session that begins Wednesday, would prevent people who in any way blur gender lines from being discriminated against in the workplace or while seeking housing or obtaining credit. More than a dozen states, including California, Illinois, Maine, Massachusetts, Oregon and Rhode Island, have enacted similar laws.

I suppose there is a fitting if ironic justice to fact that the “constitution state” has been targeted for the legal advancement of any and every perversion of natural law.

I’m from Ct..hangs head in shame.

It would be nice to see cases of transgenedered discrimination before passing a law protecting them.

Never hire someone you’ll not be able to fire (for cause) without a damned lawsuit. Makes business and life that much easier, especially in challenging times.

CT, a former bastion of Insurance, Aircrafters, Makers of Space Components, machinist, tool and die makers, the best of the best.

Now CT is one of the states with the highest rates of Unemployment. With this "From-To" you think the legislature would focus on more important things like a business climate?

It is amazing what a bizarro-lands the Northeast Blue States and the Left Coast have become, the funny thing they want to do it to us all.....

There days I swear when I read this stuff we are in an altered universe, but the sad part is it is reality...

Why not an anti-discrimination law for flashers ?

You should be allowed to come to work wearing only shoes, socks and an overcoat. If someone doesn’t like it, it’s clearly disciminatory.

Sheesh !

People should be allowed to discriminate against transgendered persons, just as people should be allowed to discriminate against schizophrenic persons.

What exactly is transgendered and how would I know when I see it?

If I discriminate, I need to know if I'm endangering my job or liberty.

People should be allowed to discriminate against transgendered persons, just as people should be allowed to discriminate against schizophrenic persons.

...or anyone else for that matter. I think we'd be a lot better off if we went back to respecting property rights and the right of free association, even if it leads to "unfair" results that some people don't like.

This is why conservatives should always be wary of empowering the government to achieve social goals they desire. Eventually those powers will be used to bite you in the backside.

I agree. Stores used to have signs that went something like this:

“We reserve the right to refuse service to anyone”.

If someone is stinky, cursing, or otherwise behaving in an offensive manner, they can be shown the door. That is as it should be.

Freedom of association is a right that is fast disappearing.

Probably something related to them being allowed to use the woman’s bathroom even though they have a guys equipment.

One those weirdos worked at a supermarket that my parents shopped at. My mom refused to use the bathroom and even complained to management. They couldn’t do much.

Everybody were really happy when the nut quit.

Geez, so what, these people are mostly just pathetic messed up guys. So, what if they go into a stall to pee? It’s not like they are installing urinals in the women’s bathrooms.
