Can Movies Lose Wars?
Big Hollywood ^ | January 6th | Ben Shapiro

Posted on 01/07/2009 2:07:46 AM PST by Halfmanhalfamazing

This is a tale of two cultures. Both cultures are faced with the threat of Islamic terrorism. Both have watched their soldiers fight and die. Both have watched their citizens burn alive.

But one culture has rejected a far-left film establishment that seeks to undermine its war on terror – the other has embraced it.

The first culture – the culture that rejects its morally relativistic artists – is America. The second culture – the culture that accepts and encourages its morally relativistic artists – is Israel.

Hollywood may make tons of movies like In the Valley of Elah, Rendition, and Stop-Loss, but those movies tank. Tel Aviv makes similar movies, and those movies are considered the greatest film achievements of the Jewish State.

There’s a reason for that: while Hollywood believes American exceptionalism is passé, most Americans disagree. By contrast, Tel Aviv believes that Zionism is passé – and that post-Zionist attitude has infected much of the Israeli populace.

It’s no wonder that America is winning its war on terror, while Israel is losing hers.

“It’s no wonder that America is winning its war on terror, while Israel is losing hers.”

With respect, I believe that we are losing the war (actual or intellectual) on our Constitution.

Further, “Hollywood” is not helping to uphold it. Rather, they use it to further their own agenda (personal, political, monetary).

Israel, on the other hand, is being “inconvenienced” in day to day security that Hollywood enjoys. (the camera ~ papperazi (sp) only shoot film, not missiles)

“Hollywood and its scums must die”

No.

I would like to see them do a live action movie though, on location.

I have to agree.

First of all, while many Americans can take pride in its military accomplishments around the world, most had nothing to contribute towards it (as they did during WW II). There were sacrifice's, rationing, a draft, civil defense drills, extra work schedules, wage freezes, etc.

Meanwhile, military personnel and their families have been stretched to the breaking point - physically and psychologically.

Secondly, America seems to be in a death rattle (Constitutionally speaking). We just elected a probable non-citizen Marxist named Barack Hussein Obama to the Presidency.

A no-talent lowlife "comic" just stole a Senate seat in broad daylight in Minnesota, a megalomaniac racist appointed by a thug criminal is about to steal another in Illinois, while a Governor (who took over after scandal where the elected gov was screwing call girls) in New York is about to appoint a liberal, vacuous debutante.

Our impeached former President has earned millions upon millions in bribes, while his wife was awarded with a Senate seat and she escaped innumerable crimes and scandals because of the complicity of the media and the Justice Dept.

Our Speaker of the House is about to impose rules to silence opposition that would make Stalin smile. The list of Congressmen and politicians who are corrupt, but get away with it, is a disgrace.

Every failed institution, from banks, to newspapers, to the UAW, has their hand out for a "bailout" from taxpayers. "Bailout Bush" is complicit in this tragedy as well.

Political hacks who presided over the "affirmative action loans" that helped to torpedo the world economy are given a pass and allowed to shift blame.

Our Universities and Colleges are cesspools of radical atheism, homosexual debauchery, and tyranny.

I don't find too much to celebrate either.

America is on a toboggan ride to the bottom, and it seems almost Biblical in proportion.

Come Lord Jesus.

“I believe that we are losing the war”

Make one thing clear our government just may be taking a deliberate fall.

Our Warriors on the other hand are the best, brightest, most highly skilled, best trained, fine tuned and effective fighting force we have ever turned out. They have demonstrated that...whenever allowed to fight. My God have no Mercie on this government should any Warrior be harmed by its action or lack there of..

I’m fortunate enough to be old enough to have at least heard of the sacrifices that went on when I was being brought up. (I did not realize what they were but I was cognizant enough to remember the stories that were told and not repeated when they thought I was old enough to realize them... parents/sister ‘sneaking’ up by guard towers in MASSACHUSETTS to gather blueberries or fishing with lines strung across guard paths by the reservoir... (the guards, ‘turned their heads’... with concern, but always observant...)
I wish that my parents had not shielded me from those stories. More so that they were not and continue to be NOT told in our schools (especially in MASSACHUSETTS)

These happened on our land, US. (in Massachusetts, I find the irony so sad to be sickening)

For bandwidth brevity, thank you for the reply and its content.

I can think of no parallel in American history which comes close to the catastrophe, moral, financial, and political which is breaking upon us.

Time and again my ruminations return me to the lonely path trodden by Winston Churchill between the wars in which he was despised and humiliated a not just for predicting the Holocaust to come but even more for exposing the rationalizations which enabled the best and brightest of the era to deceive themselves as well as the nation to the very threshold of a new dark age.

Alas, I see no Churchill emerging in our midst. I see only a ship of fools.

Amazing posts here. It’s apparent some people will give up and get on their knees to be fitted for chains.

We have yet to be inflicted with even 10% of the pain experienced by our Founders and the troops under Gen. Washington’s command.

can movies lose wars

Considering how much effort is expended on propaganda...considering how much is spent on advertising to shape people's thoughts...

...that's a naive question.

Fat Michael Marxist Moore didn’t even go to Iraq to make his move Fahrenheit 9/11. He sent a second unit crew to get the footage.

Heck, he lied about not being able to get an “interview” with Roger Smith (guess he was afraid of Detroit too?)

That didn’t prevent the ‘movie’ from going forth though, did it! (Wonder where ALGORE got his inspiration from?)
