And I liked the flight across the ship of the WWII Fighter that President 41 piloted in the Pacific Theater.

Ahem, torpedo bomber (TBM Avenger), not fighter. ;-)

They pulled back right when President George W. Bush and his wife were escorted to their seats.

They are soooo MSN these days.

But like one other poster mentioned, they did show parts of the ceremony.

They don't want to be too patriotic, might lose some of their "moderate" viewers.

Thanks for the thread...I couldn’t find it while I watched. I found the Fox hosts to be quite good and enjoyed their guest. I also thought they were very moved by the ceremony and very respectful of the military. What a wonderful honor for the Bush family. How we will miss them.

“You are sooooo bad...”

I missed my chance to see if you were too, didn’t I? :)

I hope not. There aren’t many warships named after presidents that did not serve either in the military or as Commander-in-Chief during a war. Reagan of course built up the US Navy after a dangerous decline and restored its confidence.

I think the best one is that we named a submarine after a war time president that asked Congress to declare war on Germany because of unrestricted submarine warfare.

Aircraft Carriers
USS Franklin D. Roosevelt (CV-42)
USS John F. Kennedy (CV-67)
USS Dwight D. Eisenhower (CVN-69)
USS Theodore Roosevelt (CVN-71)
USS Abraham Lincoln (CVN-72)
USS Harry S. Truman (CVN-75)
USS Ronald Reagan (CVN-76)
USS George H. W. Bush (CVN-77)
PCU Gerald R. Ford (CVN-78)

Submarines
USS Andrew Jackson (SSBN-619)
USS James Monroe (SSBN-622)
USS Woodrow Wilson (SSBN-624)
USS James Madison (SSBN-627)
USS Ulysses S. Grant (SSBN-631)
USS James K. Polk (SSBN-645)
USS Jimmy Carter (SSN-23)

There was also a frigate USS Van Buren (PF-42), but that was named after the town in Arkansas.

Geez how did I miss this guy!?!

USS George Washington (SSBN-598)
USS George Washington (CVN-73)

First president and only one to have both a submarine and an aircraft carrier named after him.

That’s a relief, althougth Jimmy Carter made it in. Just so long as no ‘USS Obama’ or ‘USS Clinton.’

I feel your pain. However, at least Mr. Peanut was a officer in the US Navy and trained in the nuclear field. He was discharged from the navy before nuclear submarines were in service though. Yet some of his career included service on a diesel submarine.

I found the Fox hosts to be quite good and enjoyed their guest.

That's good.

I didn't mean to imply that they didn't have a purpose or were irrelevant.

I personally wanted to watch the whole ceremony so switched to C-SPAN.

Some people like to listen to the guests and commentary with the ceremony in the background.
