Gay Bishop Gene Robinson to offer prayer at Barack Obama inauguration (captions needed)
Daily Telegraph (UK) ^ | 1/11/09 | staff

Posted on 01/13/2009 5:27:19 AM PST by redstates4ever

The selection of Robinson for the opening party on Sunday came after weeks of criticism over Mr Obama's choice of conservative pastor Rick Warren to deliver the religious invocation on Tuesday, January 20, the day Mr Obama is sworn in to office.

Robinson, who is the first openly gay bishop in the Anglican Communion, will pray at the star-studded event to be broadcast on national television from the Lincoln Memorial on January 18, the inaugural committee said in a statement.

"Our intention is to root the event in history, celebrating the moments when our nation has united to face great challenges and prevail," said executive producer George Stevens, Jr.

"We will combine historical readings by prominent actors with music from an array of the greatest stars of today."

Robinson, who announced his inclusion in the event in an email to friends that was printed in part by US media, said he believed his role was an important one.

"It's important for any minority to see themselves represented in some way," Robinson said in an interview with the Concord Monitor, a newspaper in the state of New Hampshire where he worships.

Goes to show the level of respect Obama has for Americans who practice Christianity, which is what the majority in the US.

I guess if he couldn't choose a muslim to deliver the prayer, he'd choose someone else who'd piss off as many Christians as possible.

Robinson presided at the funeral of a friend of mine. Very friendly and outgoing man and it's not surprising that he would rise on the power of his personality alone.

But brother! He could talk the leg off a chair. As if Episcopal services aren't long enough!

Not like he’s any worse than the bishops who cheat on their wives...at least he’s upfront about it.

If there are bishops cheating on their wives (and there very well may be, I just don't know of any), they are probably keeping it somewhat of a secret. That is between them and God.

This "bishop", however, seems to delight in making a spectacle of his relationship, and tearing apart the Church at the same time. If he truly cared for the Church, he would keep his sexual life to himself.

Sorry. No moral equivalency here.

Yes it is worse, Robinson wants us to celebrate his sin, most people are ashamed of their sin and want to hide it!

I imagine that Gene Robinson may not be struck down by the proverbial lightening, but certainly this “religion” he is promoting will not last. It is a politically-correct construct, conforming to the beliefs of a small group of people and made only for the immediate age. Robinson may gain some celebrity from his actions, but his “church” will not exist in a few short years.

Hell awaits him. He is not of the faith. He does not believe the Bible that he says he believes in. If he did, he would find several verses in his Bible that say that he should not lie with another man. But, since he does, he will burn in hell. Simple as that.

It’s not the fact that he’s gay. No one would care if this were Ellen Degenerous. It’s the fact he presents himself to be a man of God while living a homosexual lifestyle. I guess it’s sort of like John Edwards giving marital advice. Some things just don’t go together.

BS. To be in a leadership position and flaunt his sinful lifestyle (which the Bible clearly states is an abomination) should earn him a special place in hell. He is open and proud about his gayness, unlike the average sinner who tries to hide their sin in shame.

I am sure Lucifer is proud of him.

Enjoy.

To show appreciation a gift of KY Jelly would be a nice touch.

I noted that you pointed out his verbosity. Most homosexuals suffer from diarrhea of the mouth which no doubt has something to do with their lovemaking procedure.

Robinson isn’t Catholic.

He isn't Christian. He is a practicing sodomist who worships at the altar of satan.

That's not a crozier in his right hand, it's a phallic symbol.

Wonder what that guy behind him is doing?
