Comedy Dilemma: Obama's Flaws 'Not so Obvious'
Patriot Room ^ | 1-13-09 | Clyde Middleton

There was a time when it was considered poor taste for comedians to attack a current President of the United States, but that day ended with SNL and Richard Nixon. The world has since flipped, and now people worry when the comedians are not ripping the President. Thus far, most comedians are having difficulty targeting President-Elect Obama.

The reason is simple; most comedians are liberals. They just don't see anything worthy of mockery in him. Case in point, this loon, who actually gets paid to "direct talent" for Comedy Central.

Comedy Central Director of Talent JoAnn Grigioni says she sympathizes with comics who haven't yet found Obama's soft spots...

''I think people who may be having a hard time skewering Obama are experiencing that because right now his flaws, those that would be comedy fodder, are not so obvious,'' Grigioni said.

This is ridiculous at face value. People whose business is to know who and what is funny are able to see the humor in anything. The only time they are unable to do so is when what might be funny to a lot of people is actually deeply offensive to themselves.

Why don't we help Grigioni and her comics out? Here are just a few of Obama's rather obvious flaws and/or things that would be good fodder for comedians to mock him:

Obama could pimp out the presidential motorcade with purple metal flake paint and spinners, and the liberal media wouldn’t think it was funny. They’d just congratulate him on his superb taste.

Maybe it is not respect. Maybe they remember how his staff jumped all over stations who dared to plan to run certain ads.

Maybe it’s fear that keeps him joke-free.

Barry was talking about how emergency room visits could be kept down if kids with asthma had a breathalyzer...or an inhalator. He meant inhaler.

Well, FDR went on TV to decry the negative portrayal of Nixon on SNL, and told it like it was!

I’m counting on Matt and Trey to make fun of the man’s ego.

Not that I watch Southpark anymore...

He has really big EARS,

and he is black, so people probably will say things behind his back (which he can hear with his BIG EARS)

his wife is built like a man,
and she is a rich bitch,
she looks like Aunt Ester from Sanford and Son

I think his oldest daughter is pregnant (wait, she is off limits too)

he has a rumored history of smoking crack with male prostitutes

maybe immigrant comics will tell the jokes that American comics refuse to tell

Translation—We attack politicians for political reasons; the laughs are completely incidental. However, we’ve got a real problem now because our guy won.

Here's the list (from the article):

- He can't speak without a teleprompter

- He can't seem to kick his smoking habit (I sympathize with him here)

- One-third of his friends are terrorists

- His supporters think he is God

- He spent all of his time in the Senate running for President

- One-third of his friends are corrupt politicians

- Um, Reverend Wright? 20 years? Couldn't be anything funny in there, could there?

- Any and all jokes that could be made at the expense of any other generic liberal

- He has no real-world accomplishments

- One-third of his friends are corrupt businessmen

- True or not, his wife can easily be characterized as an America-hater based on her own words

- The whole Chicago political scene is a goldmine for any comedian who bothers to look

It’s like that saying attributed to Mussolini that it takes a dictator to make the trains run on time. The trains never ran on time under Mussolini, you just couldn’t say anything about it.

Obama Says He Will Try Diplomacy with Iran

Although he once labeled Iran a tiny country posing little threat to the United States, President-Elect Barack Obama pointed out that he also said Iran was a genuine threat. This cautious policy straddle during the campaign is now reflected in his announced strategy for how his administration will deal with that country.

“We should be willing to initiate diplomacy as a mechanism to achieve our national security goals, and my national security team, I think, is reflective of that practical, pragmatic approach to foreign policy,” Obama said. “I faced bullies in high school. I found then that if I gave them my lunch money and agreed to perform other services they left me alone. I see no reason why a similar compromise can’t be reached between us and Iran.”

In related news, it has been disclosed that Barack’s 71-year-old mother-in-law, Marian Robinson, will be residing with him and his family in the White House. “I’m going to keep an eye on him and try to make sure he doesn’t go smoking crack or hang out with hoodlums like he did in Chicago,” Robinson declared. “After all, he is president now and a lot more people will be out to make him look bad and bring him down.”
