Do you need Obama coverage 24 hours a day? In several markets, Comcast cable is launching an all-Obama, On Demand channel. (In D.C., it's channel 963).

Leading up to Inauguration, the channel will offer a number of Obama-related programs, according to a release: "Barack Obama’s most famous speeches to date, from his keynote address at the Democratic National Convention in 2004 through his election night victory speech in Grant Park; Barack Obama biography; Michelle Obama’s 2008 Democratic National Convention speech; a tour of the White House; and the history of Air Force One."

Bring your camera, because they have a presidential podium, a replica of the Oval Office, and several Obama cardboard cutouts for your posing pleasure. (When I asked, the staff kindly photographed me looking studious behind the Oval Office desk).

I came looking for stocking stuffers for my Obamaphile friends.  I walked out with a nice inaugural golf towel, a couple festive White House postcards, and an Obama action figure (You can make him point dramatically).

The tchotchkes weren't quite as tacky or funny as I'd hoped. There were no velvet paintings or irreverant slogans that you might find at online shops like Cafe Press. However, the store did sell Obama bobbleheads, Obama hot sauce, playing cards, and buttons the size of plates.  And of course the usual magnets, mugs, and first family t-shirts (yes, some of the shirts even depict Malia and Sasha),

For such a flag-draped ultra-patriotic store, though, there were an awful lot of knick-knacks with "Made in China/Vietnam/etc." labels. Oh well.

BTW, this is a private shop with no connection to the Obama administration or the official inauguration committee.

Obama is such an empty suit that even the corrupt media will not be able to pretend for long that Obama knows squat about anything. Disillusion will be huge. They’ll blame Bush.

This so reminds me of Cuba and Venezuela where it is all Castro all the time and all Chubby all the time.

Nice to see Obama is following in the footsteps of his mentors.

Wonder if his speeches will start going 4, 5, 6 hours long? Will he break out his Che t-shirts?

You pull the string of the Raggedy Barry Doll and it squeaks that “I have been to all 57 states and I think I have a few more to go” or something like that

I’d love to know the ratings on this channel. Even among his supporters, who would watch that crap played over and over?

I thought we just had 18 months of this courtesy of the MSM. In a perverse way this is a good thing because the expectations of the average citizen are so unrealistically high at this point. The word schadenfreude comes to mind.

I have Verizon. But the idea is preposterous, the guy has done NOTHING. They’ll be in reruns in 4 weeks.

Somewhere there’s a “niche” that the rest of us fit in that neither gush, swoon or cry even over people that we are very enthusiastic about. Conservatives will enumerate where they disagree with their favorite president, congressman, mayor, Chief of Police, etc., and yet still support those same folks.

In short, we don’t “worship” men nor think of them as some sort of god (small “g”) and we recognize that fallen men are just that and that there will always be a time in which they fail in some way or another. I think that “niche” would be the Judeo-Christian ethic.
