Disconnected from Obama's America: Rural areas that rejected him are wary of his urban views
MSNBC / The Washington Post ^ | January 16, 2009 | Anne Hull

BRINKLEY, Ark. - Wayne Loewer's truck reveals a lot about his life. A 12-gauge shotgun for duck hunting rests on the floorboard. A blue thermal lunch bag containing elk meat is shoved under the seat, left in haste that morning by his teenage son rushing to catch the school bus.

Binoculars in the console help Loewer scan his 2,900 acres of rice, soybeans and corn.

The dashboard radio is set to classic rock, playing the same Lynyrd Skynyrd tunes from Loewer's high school days, when Brinkley was still a thriving small town with stores and a movie theater.

His muddy truck is 900 miles from the kiosks crowding Pennsylvania Avenue selling "Hope Won" T-shirts. But more than miles separate Loewer from the coming celebration in Washington over Barack Obama's inauguration as president.

The 52-year-old farmer is a conservative Democrat who bet on Republican John McCain and lost, a description that would apply to many in the white South. Now Loewer wonders about his place in Obama's America.

"I'm worried that he's not gonna understand the rural way of life," he says.

On this cold January day, Loewer makes his morning rounds -- the irrigation company, the seed distributor, a well supplier -- and everywhere he goes, the same anxieties are expressed.

"That comment he made about guns and religion, it's frightening, you have to admit," says the secretary at his accountant's office.

Loewer agrees. "I don't believe in going around with a gun strapped to your hip, Wild West-style," he says. "But you ought to be able to protect yourself."

He understands the cultural chasm between him and Obama's Ivy League, biracial, global polish. He realizes he is set apart from the 53 percent majority that put Obama in the White House.

‘Paint’?

That kind of implies that they see you not as described but different and that they ‘paint’ over you.

Believe me, there’s no paint. For them, it IS YOU.

The very fact, that push comes to shove, that this guy could get along with out urban lawyers, social therapist, educrats, and even the police bureaucracy is very threatening to their ideas of their own importance in the universe, never mind their tax supported income, wealth, pensions and privileges.

Although superficially they dislike the independent rural person for life style choices, believe me, deeper down, independent people are a economic and political threat to them. They despise and fear this man, and people like him.

Their lives live good and fat off DEPENDENT people. There’s not much for them to offer INDEPENDENT people. That’s why they have to get well off of taxes, rules, regulations, special umba goomba leagalism. No one would ever pay them freely. That is why they support government, that is where their money comes from and that is why the government support them because they make, manufacture, supply encourage the people, the masses to be dependent upon government. One hand washes the other, and rual people don’t fit into the mix.

premise. his views aren’t “urban”. “urban” does not equal socialist. “urban” does not equal leftist. “urban” my rear end.

I'm still inclined to believe Obama never thought he'd win this time around, and 2008 was supposed to be a dress rehearsal for 2012 ( use my links elsewhere, dagnabbit! )...

I also still believe Ner0!, err, Zer0!, err, Duh!1® was "selected" by an unhappy confluence of "Mo Money" than the unfortunate Cap'n Queeg, the shadily-orchestrated meltdown of "The Economy" ( which still seems to be staggering along despite it all ) and the Ophra-ization of the masses. Aided and abetted by the dumbing down caused by Public Miseducation and too much Popular Culture, which is a cesspool of reaction shots, bumper-sticker slogans, and tits, and teeth, and asses. Literally, and figuratively...
Jugs, and Thugs...

American Idol and Survivor, writ large and smarmy...

Basically, Obama was "Marketed Better"- like soft drinks are...

...but still, he's just an empty suit:

for all those

Drinkers out there in TV land... to "you gotta fall down, an' worship De Idol"--
( Old Negro Spiritual, "Shadrack, Neshack, Abendnego" )

worshipme.jpg

But...

If we aren't all rounded up and re-educated at

Camp Obama

it should provide endless opportunities to hector, and catcall, and kibitz from the sidelines.

I hope all the MoonBats really, really, really enjoy having The New Little Big Fraud© at the helm. It's going to be quite a ride...

This guy really is Bad News, travelin' Like Wildfire...
Not to mention his gullible, self-deluded, quasi-religious camp followers:

Preview of Anti-Obama Documentary Outrages Left

John Ziegler didn’t know the kind of fury the left would unleash on him when he unveiled his web video “How Obama Got Elected.”

See his website and video here.

“The Zogby results were incredible and they were credible and the vast majority of enws media ignored it because it was their own malfeasance that created a massive amount of ignorance,”

See poll results here.

As I have mentioned here:

OBAMAO ... is America ready for a Marxist president?

Nope, but we are about to get one, good and hard...

...so chroniclers like Yours Truly will be documenting every move he makes, every breath he takes... unless, or until, we are silenced by all that "tolerance & inclusiveness" he & his followers are already practicing.... ( "we in charge now" )

America Held Hostage- the Obama Files...
Click the picture:

I'll keep doing it as long as there's something to say- or until we really are silenced.

As far as I am able, I will mirror this on our Canadian sister site, which has been moved to Panama due to censorship issues:

America Held Hostage- the Obama Files...
Click the picture:

And, despite the fact that I believe America is headed here:

From my lonely and draughty station, I will continue to document this mass hysteria.

And no, I am not kidding about that tagline-- I wish I were.

People really do get
the kind of government they want...
...and deserve.

"You asked for it,
you got it!

They had better, or America and a goodly portion of the world won't have enough to eat.

He's right about protection though, The atmosphere being created by Obama and the MSM about "rural people" will embolden the thief and the arsonist.

And America knows it, one reason that fire arms sales cracked up by 70% over last year in December.

I also have a new .223 Ar-15 clone in my gun safe with 2000 rounds of .223 to verify the trend, and sprang for 6x30 round mags. Millions of us did the same.

THese two social groups will clash in America in the first 2 years of the Obama presidency. So much for unifying the nation, it was all campaign talk/poseurship.

Why do you think they assigned two Army brigades for ‘social disturbances’?

You think the MSM is going to take our side?

You got taxes to pay to the man, or you will lose your land. You think your town, county is going to take your side over Washington? No way.

Somehow, someway they will put the squeeze to the rural areas and drag, entice, force you to the urban areas where you can not grow, can not hunt, can not fish, can not build, chop, and so forth. Oh, and can not own an ‘assault rifle’.

It’s grim, it’s real and its for keeps.

At the risk of becoming a broken record ... The above is the Hi Point C9 model 9mm pistol. About $130, with a lifetime, transferable warranty. Not bad for self-defense and VERY affordable... I'm at a low ebb economically, right now due to medical issues, but even so, I can afford the C9. Would I rather have a Colt Python .357 Magnum or S&W K frame? Of course, but those are out of reach right now. I foresee trouble within months, not years, and armed with anything is better than dreaming of someday!

Well done, backhoe. You follow in the footsteps of Sam Adam’s pamphleteers who nailed broadsheets onto trees in the town commons.

When the subject of farming/farmers comes up, it is not a good idea to bring up independent/dependent.

This Wayne Loewer of Brinkley, AR is listed in the EWG Farm Subsidy database at $73,919.00. Robert Loewer also of Brinkley is at $761,064.65.

If you add up all the Loewers farming in that area of east central AR, it is a substantial amount of money.

Plus, they are there along the White River and using lots of irrigation water from the Corp of Engineers.

Obama may pull out the stops when it comes to removing threats to his pogrom, and he has an army willing to use any deceitful way they can to find holdouts.

Think nigerian scams but instead they want you to give up firearms and or information.

The first farm subsidy that I know of in the US was the Erie cannel that opened up Ohio grain to the Hudson river.

Anyways, I was more thinking of culture than money.

I think the guy could “get along” with out the urban elite.

“You think your town, county is going to take your side over Washington? No way.”

You’re exactly right. That’s why I encourage conservatives to attend local government meetings and take back their backyards (local governments) from the liberals.

If we’re going to make a fight of it, we need a political base to operate from. That means electing sheriffs and local councilmen who reflect our view.

The Founders set the example. While the English Crown controlled the states, the American patriots controlled the towns.

It’s a strategy that’s quite simple, logical and effective - the head (federal government) can’t operate without the co-operation of the body (local government).
