McCain Campaign Manager Blames Rush Limbaugh for McCain's Loss
Rush Limbaugh ^ | 2009-01-16

Posted on 01/17/2009 7:01:24 AM PST by rabscuttle385

RUSH: Ladies and gentlemen, have you thought back to the 2008 election? Have you asked yourself who was responsible for that loss? Have you asked yourself who really should shoulder the blame and the burden for the defeat of Senator McCain? A lot of people have been speculating this, a lot of postmortems on the election. Let's go to the BBC. BBC World Service, host Stephen Sackur spoke with former McCain campaign manager Rick Davis and asked Rick Davis on whose shoulders rests the burden of the McCain defeat.

DAVIS: We didn't successfully reach out to them. I mean, but you look at the leadership John McCain gave which is counter to the direction that the party was headed, when you have the Rush Limbaughs of the world who, you know, literally almost feed the nativist attitude toward immigration reform, what do you think the Hispanic voter, the Latino voter is gonna remember? They're gonna remember the attacks, not the efforts by people like John McCain to try and reform.

RUSH: So there you have it, Rick Davis, the campaign manager for McCain, has dumped on my shoulders the reason McCain lost and others like me alienated Hispanic voters. This is so wrong on so many levels, but it explains why this campaign was so inept. A brief time-out. Just wanted you to hear that so you could stew over it.

“McCain should have been ripping the MSM for the way they treated Palin but in the end he turned out no better than them.”

That really showed me what kind of “man” McCain really is. He’s really much like John Kerry in many ways.

Reason #467 on why I am glad I voted for Chuck Baldwin.

Calling Rush a “nativist” is nothing but slander...If the pro-illegal/anti-American lobby wants to call Rush “nativist” for supporting Americans over illegals....then I can think of great terms to label pro-illegals...more than just my usual “Anti-American Bigot” term for the pro-illegal/anti-American crowd.

Rush’s reply was spot-on....McCain will be the 60th DNC vote in the Senate...and many conservatives wasted their 2008 votes on the liberal John McCain

....and Palin on SNL every week, Ill never understand that.

Umm....you do understand that it wasn’t really Palin on SNL every week, right? That being said, I think it was a mistake for Palin have made that guest appearance SNL, period.

McCain lost for many reasons: age, excessive civility, lack of charisma, and plain old bumbling. I knew he really lost it when he pulled that “I’m suspending my campaign” stunt. It made him look very erratic.

As for Rush, he correctly warned conservatives that McCain was a loser during the primaries. Personally, I thought Romney would have given us the best shot. Not sure if he would have won, but it would have been a real fight.

How the hell did we nominate this guy?

WE didn't. The idiots in Iowa and New Hampshire gave him the momentum and the media kept pimping him over REAL conservative candidates like Fred Thompson. For the record, I live in NH and voted for Fred. The way the state GOP bad-mouthed Thompson was nothing less than shameful.

Isn't it amazing, though, how in mid-2007, McCain's campaign was all but dead, primarily because of the illegal immigration issue, yet as soon as he flip-flops on his stance (at least publicly) his poll numbers go up? We are not led by the best and brightest anymore. And the voters got the wool pulled over their eyes.

“... repeatedly stabbed his actual party’s largely conservative base in the face one too many times.”

Amen!!

And .. both McCain and his staff were convinced THEY DID NOT NEED THE BASE TO GET ELECTED. Even after there was such an outpouring for Palin .. THEY STILL DIDN’T GET IT .. Moderates never do. They think we’re the problem .. when the problem is actually the moderates.

High five!

Baldwin got my vote too; thankfully he (somehow) ended up on the Virginia ballot...otherwise I would have gone write-in.

McCain should thank Sarah for the amount of votes he got. I had exited out of the race because I didn’t like him. I was not going to vote this year. Sarah got me back in the race and I voted for her not him. She had the balls not him. I was advancing her career not his. Rush had nothing to do with it.

i didn’t vote for this guy. A couple of months ago, many, many people here were guilt-tripping those of us who refused to support this guy. Are any of them still willing to defend their vote? Kirk out.

Nor did I. And, quite frankly, I still harbor some small resentment for being called, amongst other things (I'm not going to say inter alia) a SQUIRREL (which I had to look up) and much more.

McStupid lost because he is who he is.

McCain is too stupid to realize that without Palin he would have lost all 57 States.

LOL!

McPain is a loser. People only voted for him because they feared Obama more. Many stayed home and did NOT vote. McPain’s LOSS is one HE created. It was McPain’s race to lose and he did. McPain disgusts me. McPain is a pro life Demoncrat. He’s so STUPID. I don’t understand why Arizonians keep voting this clown in as their representative each year. Get rid of this RHINO.
