Limbaugh Responds to Obama [Byron York]

According to an account in the New York Post, President Barack Obama yesterday told Republican leaders, "You can't just listen to Rush Limbaugh and get things done." With George W. Bush now off the stage, it may be that Obama and some of his fellow Democrats view Limbaugh, and not John Boehner, Mitch McConnell, or any other elected official, as the true leader of the Republican opposition. This morning I asked Rush for his thoughts...

He is a vastly more formidable opponent of the left than Bush ever was.

Probably today's strongest Conservative voice.

It’s a shame that people rely on the media to tell them what to think of a person, that is the scariest thing of all. Sarah does need more experience, yes you are correct on that, and I have no idea who these people are who have told you that Sarah is “Dumb” show them her state of the state address and ask them the same question again and let me know if they still feel the same way. I am not saying that she still needs to get her feet wet and gain more experience because she does, but she is definitely on her way to having a great future and perhaps in 2012, or 2016 she will run for President, will she win, it all depends on the state of the Republican party. Look at this party, they are all jumping ship and going to the Democratic side saying “We all must join together” I don’t remember Dems saying after Bush won in 2000 that they have to join together, they were too busy crying how Bush stole the election. I want to see all the RINOS come out so that we can throw them overboard, who needs them. Obama will crash and burn, it’s already started with the laws he is implementing, they are destructive to this country, once enough people open up their damn eyes and see him for what he is we will have our chance to win. Some idiots unfortunately you will never convince, such as the sub-humans who post on the adn, Alaska had an earthquake today, which had NOTHING at all to do with Sarah Palin, they are blaming her for the earthquake, yes these are the people we are all dealing with in this New America under Obama, it’s sick

I agree with you on every point. I believe that certain people have a gut reaction based on how people talk. I know people that have an instantly negative reaction to others that have a Southern accent. I've heard more than a couple people that had a gut dislike for Sarah because of her "soccer mom" statements. Of course, those same people will never see nor hear about Joe Biden's reckless and foolish statements or acts.

As far as RINOs go, I agree that they are the biggest reason why we're at where we're at. We had a Repub Presidency, and a Repub majority, and we squandered it. Big spending Repubs (including our president) betrayed the conservative philosophy. Now how credible will it be when someone speaks out and tells you that conservatism actually means that we should spend less???

Now the real sad thing is that now, the RINOs have the most power. The conservatives will need to work with the RINOs if they desperately need a filibuster. I just hope all the current ass-kissing is part of the grand plan that I just mentioned. Somehow I just can't place that kind of coordination and forethought to our party.

I agree with what you say. Especially,

All this is contigent that the Repubs, conservaties and RINOs can work together and stop the infighting. That, of course, is a huge, and perhaps faulty assumption.

I think the Republican party has to redefine their "base". There doesn't seem to be a way to make a coherent party of the current warring factions.

The key to 2010, and 2012, is to pick leaders who can provide a good and coherent alternative to the far Left platform we have in control now. I am very concerned about who will be elected head of the RNC. Michael Steele is my choice, because he understands the need to have a solid message, even if it doesn't satisfy everyone.

And I'd like to see Romney as the candidate being groomed for the 2012 election. His financial management skills will be sorely needed then.

I don't expect the GOP party platform to be one that I agree with 100%; I just hope it's coherent enough and clear enough that we are all marching together.

Screw this BS - it’s time for the GOP to take off the gloves and do to Obama what the MSM did to Palin.

The GOP should issue a press release, no, hold a press conference every time Obama makes a mistake and there will be plenty of them.

The GOP needs to stop taking the high road like McCain did and take off the gloves.

That goes for calling out the MSM for what they are as well - shills for the DNC

We had ACORN voter fraud in Oklahoma in 2008 that almost cost us control of the OK Senate. Fortunately it didn’t but it was very close. If there is ACORN voter fraud in Oklahoma cannot imagine the extent of it in larger states.

We are going to have to do a grassroots effort to clean up the voting roles for 2010.

Ken Blackwell, former Ohio Secretary of State, is running for RNC Chair and would be the perfect person to go on the attack against the voter fraud and lack of Dems following the law. Please call or email your National Committeeman/woman and GOP Chair to vote for Blackwell.

Last thing we need is someone to head the RNC that is a part of the RNC organization since they have fallen way behing in how to run elections. Mike Duncan may have been the worst RNC Chair when we didn’t have money between NRCC (horrible leadership) and RNC to fund last minute ads for candidates it shows they are worthless.

We need new blood and Ken Blackwell would bring conservative values to the RNC and make sure that everyone knows there is a difference. Everyone needs to attend their precinct meetings and become delegates to their County and State Convention to have some say in the direction the party is going.

Could’nt agree more. Except GOP just will never morph into a vicious attack dog. Not in the genes.

As much as I relish the idea, I think if the GOP does it, it will backfire. That's what Rush and Hannity are for. That's what the grassroots are for. The GOP has no credibility with the public right now. Their brand is mud. Worse yet, the MSM will drag some ordinary people through the mud if they criticize the ONE. What you really need is an African American voicing their displeasure. Alonzo Rachel the v-blogger comes to mind.

Ken’s a great guy...met him in person.

Shaking things up will work. He understands technology, too.

I hope the old blood and RINOS don’t shut him out.

Michael Steele would be good, too.

Don’t count on 2012 folks. The people who gave us John McCain wil make sure we nominate Alf Landon instead of Ronald Reagan. We’re going to get clobbered.

You have a fairly good grasp of what is going on. As Republicans we are already taking stock of who will run in two years. Actually, we have been for a while. We are, for the most part, open and neutral as to who it will be. Frankly incumbency is favored as that gives us a near certain win. We are looking for attractive young candidates who can articulate a clear and contrasting message and who have a clean background and, very importantly, can raise money on their own. We are looking at the current social divisions and anticipating what new ones will come to the forefront. We want bridge candidates.

There is a lot of support for Sarah Palin but virtually no one believes that she will be the nominee in 2012. She could be, but she has a rough road ahead. My guess is Romney but there are a number of bright young Republicans who could catch fire.

BobJam and Rodney Dangerfield...I appreciate your sentiment and frustration...with all do respect, huffing and pessimism are things we simply have to get past...we are already past that...it’s assumed and it just wastes energy. We need that energy focused forwards, not backwards.

Rip off the rear view mirrors, please.

Not a bad thing at all!

I do want to say IMHO George W. Bush is a decent and honorable man who history will judge more favorably then present time; but I agree in this fight Rush is a more formidable opponent for the Libs.
My point is; we conservatives have to hang tough and together in this fight, and start scratching and clawing our way back NOW as individuals, paving the way for our future leaders, instead of just waiting for a leader to emerge first.

Why is Pres Obama giving Rush Limbaugh so much power. Limbaugh is an entertainer not a politician.

Rush and Hannity are great, but talking to the fence riders who really decide the elections, is the hard nut.

That's part of the problem, but I think the bigger problem is that the ONLY reason I voted for McCain was I'd rather have a third rate fireman than a first rate arsonist.

The communists could get extremely excited about Obama. Is there anything ANYONE could get excited about with McCain (except for the VP pick)?

Great talking to an Internet user like you!

We'll see what becomes of Obama.

In any case, I feel Conservatism and common sense is gaining ground in many countries.

From a European perspective, leaders like Merkel and Sarkozy constitute major improvements to Schröder and Chirac. I don't dance around naked all day, but neither do I sense the end of Western Civilization to be nigh.

My belief is that USA (which, any way you look at it, remains the leading nation on Earth) will survive Obama just like it survived Carter.

Today, it's commonly said our respective economies are in a awful shape. Somewhat true looking from a short perspective perhaps, but we need to be much more concerned over the shape of our leaders.

Best of regards from a somewhat inebriated, although still clear sighted, guy in Volvo land:D

I find it strange that people still think that Sarah Palin cannot attract independents. The fact is that she was elected governor and has enjoyed very high approval ratings in a state where there is a relatively higher proportion of independent voters (43%) than many other states. Palin is a conservative no doubt, but if anthing she is a conservative realist. As for her need for more experience, one would have wished the same thing about Obama, not to mention that obvious buffoon Biden. The fact is, that who ever the GOP nominee is, is going to be savaged by the MSM. That has already been done to Sarah. There is nothing new they can say, and most of the negative memes that have been perpetrated against her have become increasingly incredible if not unintentionally hilarious. The GOP needs to turn the MSM itself into an object of ridicule.

By the time 2010 arrives everything will be in such a mess....we'll then start to take back what we've lost. The donkeys can't solve nothing they've proved that...they crashed the economy to win...now they've gotten it all...watch the disaster in coming...they do not have the answers...only true capitalist conservatives can turn this around.......

You make some good arguments, and some good points. I especially agree that as things are going, there will be no difference in Republican and Democrat parties in 12 years, though there are some who would say that there really is no difference... and they may be more right than wrong.

We don’t need to come at this with a Republican vs. Democrat mentality; we need to absorb the disenfranchised Democrats, possibly even leaving the RINO party to do so... in other words, we need to have [and be] men of character, men who will not stand for the corruption of DC.

If we make it about something simple, that most everyone can get behind, the un-Patriot elite will not be able to stop us... after we establish that America is supposed to be governed Of the People and By the People and that there should be no special treatment of someone because they have political friends. (Our new Sec. of Treasury? That guy with the cash in his freezer? so many more... get a free ride for things that would get us “poor common folk” tossed into jail for.)

If we can catch the moral outrage of the conservatives, and incite the Democrats/social-liberals (who claim to want social justice; also, how can one have “social” justice when REAL justice is ignored?) and share this with them... that is key.
