WASHINGTON (Reuters) - President Barack Obama's pledge to seek a worldwide ban on weapons in space marks a dramatic shift in U.S. policy while posing the tricky issue of defining whether a satellite can be a weapon.

Moments after Obama's inauguration last week, the White House website was updated to include policy statements on a range of issues, including a pledge to restore U.S. leadership on space issues and seek a worldwide ban on weapons that interfere with military and commercial satellites.

It’s not dumb if your interest is harming the US. It makes perfect sense to him.

Chamberlain comes right to mind

Yes we’ll stop all of ours while the other countries say they’ll stop.

Yea like that will stop(sarc) it was like this with N Korea, Clinton gives them incentives , money etc but they say one thing and do another .

Our enemies must have had the biggest party in their history when they learned phony was going to take charge

The banning of space born weaponry could included the banning of ICBMs as well.

Wait til the Chinese or Soviets kill a comm sat and zerO’s fancy communications equipment won’t work. How will he propagandize the masses or control everything if the nets go down? This is the science and tech-savvy POTUS, ya know.

As an alternative scenario, let’s say they deploy a comm sat aimed at eavesdropping on our secure communications. Not that they won’t get loads of intel just from hacking the Blackberry.

I am just a peon. It isn’t my place to question these giant intellects. I already have a screaming headache every time I read another of this administation’s great moves.

Same here. I just can't read any threads about him anymore.

I don't even know why I read this one.

I Think I'll go back to cleaning the cat litter, that will be a pleasant diversion.

So this means that we will no longer fund high tech.
Third world status just a term away.

Guv’mnt needs to fund making’ roads and putting in picnic tables. Much more important for a economic recovery.

I don’t think he’s dumb (don’t think he’s a genius, either, btw). He told us what his agenda ws going to be and most of our fellow citizens just didn’t hear him or believe him.

I’m looking forward to hearing how he will position this one. How can he make it look like he wants the safety of our country when he flat-out bans our weapons?

"He just gets dumber and dumber..."

Actually, I think he's pretty smart to fanagled his way into the Oval Office. The real problem is how naive and arrogant he is. That will be his un-doing, or at least our nation's un-doing.
