The Oakland Police Department Thursday notified 11 officers, including two sergeants, that they will be terminated for their involvement in the falsification of search warrant affidavits over the past several months, according to the city attorney's office.
An internal investigation found that the officers knew or should have known that information in their affidavits about the testing of drugs was false.
Officers were also found to have made untruthful statements in response to questions from Internal Affairs investigators, who did determine that allegations against one officer were unfounded, according to the city attorney's office.

"have repeatedly violated the constitutional rights of citizens by fabricating information in reports (and) providing false and/or intentionally misleading information in warrant affidavits to the court."
I know I've had enough of the war on drugs, the police-military it has created, and the complete disregard for the 4th amendment is now the status-quo.
I'm sure there are still good cops out there, but it sure seems like there's also more than plenty of thugs with badges.
.
Who can you trust nowadays? NOBODY !!!
I would like to be able to trust the police, however there have just been too many accounts of the police going off on lawful citizens.
Prudence requires that I consider any interaction with the police as a potential threat to myself and my property.
Fired? where are the criminal charges? These thugs have impacted the lives of other people and should be spending at least 10, perhaps 20 more years in a small cell with a girlfriend named Bubba.
I'm shocked.
They get to keep half of whatever they can find. Money, and whatever they can get for selling off the house, cars, tv’s etc. They split it with the feds. I am sure promotions and such ride on how much you can bring in.
From an article on “asset forfeiture”
Some say that because of the resulting windfall, state and local law enforcement has become as addicted to forfeiture as an addict is to drugs—making property seizure no longer a means to an end, but an end in itself. In 1999 alone, approximately $300 million of the $957 million that the Treasury and Justice Department funds took in went back to the state and local departments that helped with the seizures. And since 1986, the Department of Justice’s equitable sharing program has distributed over $2 billion in cash and property. Additional revenue comes from forfeitures done under state law, which adds to the total intake. According to a study by the Bureau of Justice Statistics, state and local law enforcement reported receiving a total of over $700 million in drug-related asset forfeiture revenue in 1997 alone—with some departments single-handedly taking in several million dollars for their own use.

Okay, and did they announce the prosecutions to follow?!?
If not, they have still fallen short of being a “nation of laws”.
It was just announced that the Oakland chief of police is resigning.
I wish it was the mayor! Thanks for the update.
Without all that military gear, they might just sit down at the cop shop until we actually need them.
