WASHINGTON - Bucking the Obama administration, House Republicans on Wednesday defeated a bill to postpone the upcoming transition from analog to digital television broadcasting to June 12 leaving the current Feb. 17 deadline intact for now.

good.
Since the pubs don’t have a majority how is it that they get credit for nixing this bill?
Good question!! LOL.
What???!!! Now millions of Obamobots won’t see Dear Leader! They shouldn’t have traded Those coupons for cigarettes and booze!
Good. I’m getting sick of those non-stop commercials.
whew. At least I will get to see the Daytona 500.

They block cloture. The Dems have to have 60 votes to force a bill to be brought to floor for a vote. The Dems only have 59 Senators. Yesterday morning they only had 58.
The Bread and Circuses crowd are going to miss seeing the new clown show on tv.
I am confused. Wasn’t it passed just a day or two ago? Was it the Senate that had passed it?
I asked myself the same question, but the answer is straight forward. The AP has determined that it will be an unpopular decision.
Since the pubs dont have a majority how is it that they get credit for nixing this bill?

Its an Ass. Press article. I imagine that when Dear Leader wants something - it those dammned Repubs fault when it doesn’t happen
No, but it shows what our side CAN do if they pull their heads out and act like they have a spine.
Now, will they do it again?
This stimulus bill must be stopped. Unless it is, the Democrats will just have bought and paid for their re-election for the next 20 years.
Great explanation to the wrong question. This happened in the House.
How in the holy h3ll are Republicans responsible for this not passing? They don’t need republican votes to pass ANYTHING, they are only about 180 seats out of around 435 (yes my numbers are probably not dead-on but they are around there).
You (and I) might call it "credit" but those who riot because they can't watch "Oprah" any more will call it "blame".
In any case, it took a two-thirds vote, and the Dems don't have two thirds (2010 here we come!), so they needed Pub help, and didn't get it.
If they live anywhere civilization, they’ll be able to see Baby Killer Obama on all the damn digital billboards whenever they’re on the road.
For some reason--the article I saw wasn't clear--delaying the transition required a 2/3 vote. The GOP has over a third, and it voted nay.
I’m sure they are rushing to take this out of the Pork-u-lus package since it will be a ‘done deal’ to go to DTV on schedule.....riiight!
Read the article. Second paragraph, first sentence.
Uh oh! The sheep might lose access to Obamavision for a short time!
Can someone tell me the reason for this Digital stuff. It doesn’t seem all that important to be spending all this money on it. I’d rather put beans on the table.

Fewer Nielsen ratings = less revenue for TV stations that promote liberal views.
Funny reference - I just watched the Star Trek episode “Bread & Circuses”
A “Motion to Suspend the Rules and Pass” requires a 2/3rd’s majority, so it needed GOP support to pass.
I share your sentiment. I do however think that it is a good thing, that we have an example of what they CAN do when they put their minds to it. New we can point to this and say, do that. Do it again. You know you can. Get off your ass and do it, you mutts.
The media will blame Republicans and the idiots will always believe it.
Interesting. The msm is reporting that everyone can relax, the changeover won’t take place in February after all.
The broadcasters are not amused, insisting that it will cost many millions of dollars to keep two systems in place.
There’s something far more important than that: The first night that American Idol fans can vote for their favorite contestants is Feb 17.
Get the popcorn out, ladies and gentlemen, if you wanna see a bad accident.
That’s a reference to an old joke.
Jesus and Juan go to a new car dealership to buy a fast and powerful new sports car. Sensing the car is too powerful for them, the salesman asked Jesus, “Before I can sell you that car, I have to ask you a question. What would you do if you had this car up to 130 MPH and come up over the crest of a hill and there’s a tractor trainer overturned completely blocking the street and there’s not enough room to stop?”
Jesus didn’t hesitate a millisecond, saying, “I’d wake up Juan.”
“Juan,” the salesman responds in disbelief. “Why would you wake up Juan?”
“Cause Juan ain’t never seen a bad accident before.”
Since when does a bill like this require a 2/3 majority to pass? They explain nowhere why this is needed instead of a simple majority. I can hardly believe Pelosi kept a rule that said ‘spending bills require 2/3 majority to pass.’ She’s gutted the rules to quash the repubs, can’t believe she left this in there somewhere.
..not agreeing to a voice vote!
Funny: the AP article says nothing about the unusualness of the voice vote- it's stupid readers will now be confused to learn a majority vote is normal.
My guess (operative word = guess) is that, because this REVERSES an earlier bill, that 2/3 is required.
I don’t know, but I’m glad they did and do... the delay was a ploy to help Sprint over Verizon (according to an article I read last week) and had everything to do with money they gave Obama.
As I’ve said before, as long as there is ONE Republican ANYWHERE in ANY branch of government, the media will blame HIM for everything that they can. Personally, this is good news to me, but the media (and their beloved Obama) will spin this as an attack on the “poor, ignorant masses” who will lose their Oprah. Sniff, sniff..
You’re right, I just checked the Constitution.
Unbelievable. Headline for the Article: Pelosi Respects Constitution for DTV Vote
Ouch!
That stings.
Obama’s first legislative push goes down.
[Good. Heck, they’ve been pushing this on us for 2 years. I’m sick of all the change-over ads, etc. Let is happen and let’s get on with it.]
He’ll just direct Treasurt Secretary Tim Tax Cheat Geitner to allocate money for convertor boxes for their target reparations folks.
I don’t expect this to hold. Pelosi can fast-track this through thanks to all her recent rule changes. You can’t object to a request to remove a bill from committee anymore, so she puts it into committee, immediately pulls it out, and it comes back to the floor. I’m thinking two days max.
Watch how fast those idiots learn how to convert once their sets stop working.
Only comment that makes sense.
This is legislative chicanery and the GOP just sent a shot across the bow on how Pelosi is behaving.
She will get it passed soon enough once they do it in ‘regular order’.
For the Obama supporters on the thread who can’t figure it out, the bill needed 2/3 of the votes to pass.
WE have two parties, Dem or Repo. Get over it.
Third Parties always give us democrats, since they both agree with most issues, anti war, close Gitmo, 9/11 Truthers, etc. it makes for a nice trojan horse
for the Democrats.
You took the time to direct the poster to the article. Why could you not have politely taken the time to answer the question directly?
We reached that stage years ago when governments started financing sports arenas.
