Angela Davis: Prisons perpetuate oppression of minorities (Open with extreme caution!)
The Union Leader ^ | January 30, 2009 | CLYNTON NAMUO

DURHAM – After the inauguration of the first black president, America is now on the precipice of changes that were never before possible, 1960s radical turned academic Angela Davis told a crowd of hundreds at the University of New Hampshire last night.

The vestiges of slavery, colonization and exploitation remain rife throughout America, as is evidenced by the over-representation of minorities in prison, Davis said. The prison population, now estimated to be one in 100 adult Americans, only contributes to the oppression of minorities, she said.

It is a pattern seen across the country, even in New Hampshire, Davis said.

In the Granite State, white men are arrested at a rate of 289 per 100,000, but for black men it is more than 2,000 per 100,000, Davis said.

Does anyone think that maybe this is the cause, not race discrimination -- At year-end 2007 there were 3,138 black male sentenced prisoners per 100,000 black males in the United States, compared to 1,259 Hispanic male sentenced prisoners per 100,000 Hispanic males and 481 white male sentenced prisoners per 100,000 white males.

Yes our prison problem, seems to be race based, don't you see it.

In the old days, the Democrats just lynched minorities to keep them on the farm, so I guess you could say that in 2005 when the Senate finally apologized for lynching people without due cause, that it's progress, now that we only throw the crooks in jail for the crimes they commit.

Progress comes in small steps.

It's also possible that the warped liberal mind, is trying to play to ignorant people, twisting the facts and distorting the truth. hmmm could be.

According to D of J reports blacks commit about 85 percent of the violent crimes in America. Most are commited on their own race.

“Thirty-five years ago today”
By Lona Manning

SNIPPET: “Just like radical Islamists today, sixties radicals passed judgment on America. Whether it was Angela Davis explaining, ‘We have to learn how to rejoice when pigs’ blood is spilled,’ or Tom Hayden confessing that he was ‘fascinated by the simplicity and power of the Molotov cocktail,’ the radical elite believed that violence was justified in the service of the revolution.

Davis and Hayden survived the radical sixties, but some of their brothers in arms did not.”

Man, I am behind the times. Angela Davis is walking around free in America? I thought she had political asylum in Cuba or some such.

I’ve seen some of those “Characters welcome” ads on USA Network and they now have an ad featuring Fairey and his Hope poster of Obama. I even see where he will be a guest speaker at some digital design seminar.

“Death row inmate Mumia Abu-Jamal made honorary citizen of Paris [FRANCE ALERT]”
Yahoo Singapore ^ | October 5, 2003 | nwrep
Posted on October 4, 2003 2:58:15 PM PDT by nwrep

Sunday October 5, 1:49 AM

SNIPPET: “Black activist Angela Davis, a former member of the Black Panthers and the Communist Party, hailed the “profound sense of humanity” of Abu-Jamal, attacking American “unilateralism” and racist attacks against immigrants.

The movement to free Abu-Jamal “takes on a new sense in face of American unilateralism, the aggression against the Iraqi people and the racist attacks against immigrants which can only further gnaw away at the vestiges of democracy in the United States,” Davis, a professor at the University of California in Santa Cruz, said.”

Prisons are oppressive?

Who would have ever thought that?

I’m sure the non-minorities are just having the time of their lives in their while the minorities do all the work and have no fun.

Thanks for those links. I came across one other you might want to include. At THIS link you can find a discussion and examples where the artist Fairey is accused (and seemingly demonstrated) to have purloined much of his art work from other sources. Fairey is accused of being a plagiarist. Isn't it ironic that candidate who only speaks the words another writes is supported by an artist who sells work that others have created?

Angela and other people who are oppposed to having blacks in prison forget one important thing.

Most of them are there because they committed crimes against other blacks. Turn them loose and where do they go.? Back to commit more crimes against other blacks, back to the community. Is that what Angela wants?

*********Angela Yvonne Davis is a tenured professor in the “History of Consciousness” program at the University of California - Santa Cruz. A former member of the Black Panther Party, she is currently a “University Professor,” one of only seven in the entire California University system, which entitles her to a six-figure salary and a research assistant. ***********

History of Consciousness, Good Googamooga, and people wonder why it costs so much to send a kid to college, where they have criminals like Angela Davis, Bill Ayers, and Dr, Katonga the Kwanzaa guy teaching our youth.

Blacks inundate prisons because they commit most of the crimes despite being 12.8% of the population. Black neighborhoods are the subject of more police surveillance because that is where most criminals and potential criminals reside.
Angela Davis knows this but is a racist who loathes whites and her idea of justice is that black criminals go free even those committing the most heinous crimes, especially crimes perpetrated on 'whitey'.
