It depends on what your your definition of ‘in’ is. There are earmarks ‘on’ the bill, written on the paper, but they aren’t embedded in the paper..

No, seriously.
They've "redefined" what an earmark is. Doesn't matter that they haven't told US what that extremely narrow definition is.

By THEIR definitions there ARE NO EARMARKS!

Now, shut up and drink the koolaid.

There isn’t any earmarks because it’s an earmark bill. An earmark on this bill would be something that normally would be it’s own bill.

It’s backwards thinking for a backwards President.

Techically, an "earmark" is spending specifically directed to a particular project in a legislator's state or district that is added without comment or debate. Earmarks are usually added after the committee process and before the floor vote. Since the bill is just being formulated, it generally wouldn't have any earmarks yet.

For example, let's say the bill has a proposal to spend $100 million on "family planning". That could be considered pork, but not an earmark. Now, after the bill goes through the committee hearings and just before the floor vote, DiFi slips in a line that requires $50 million of that $100 million to go to the Planned Parenthood affiliates in San Francisco - that would be an earmark.

Get with the program, those are not earmarks they are Legislative Challenges. Just like the new Challenge on Terror.

The only earmarks are those left on Zero’s pillow when he wakes up in the morning! “Mr. President what big earmarks you have” said the intern who woke up next to him in bed.

Earmarks are when a pet project is added at the behest of a specific Congressman for a specific recipient. This bill is a trillion dollar boondoggle where the original bill writeup has all the giveaways.

It’s still “pork”.

I suppose I am being dense, but is there some additional documentation as to how these figures were reached ie: Documentation for the research required to come to the specific dollar values associated with each... expenditure?

How about a goal set for the expected outcome for every single dollar of our money that is being spent.

Looking at the individual amounts, it looks to me as if the extraordinary amounts are just thrown together willy-nilly with no real thoughts or plans to administer, monitor and define the goals and expectations for each grant.

Maybe it’s just me, but if I were going to fund areas of a company in order to assure it’s solvency, I would make darn sure the money isn’t going to be wasted or appropriated for things that won’t help. I didn’t see any oversight expenses for this fiasco.

Or am I way off-base here?
