Politico: Sen. Stabenow Wants Hearings On Radio 'Accountability'; Talks Fairness Doctrine
News Busters ^ | February 5, 2009 - 13:45 ET | Seton Motley

Michael Calderone in today's Politico reports on the latest liberal politician -- Michigan Democratic Senator Debbie Stabenow -- openly touting their intent to silence their talk radio opposition with a reinstitution of the Fairness Doctrine.

"Whether it’s called the Fairness Standard (sic), whether it’s called something else – I absolutely think it’s time to be bringing accountability to the airwaves."

Senator Stabenow was speaking on the air with liberal talk radio host Bill Press and to his eleven listeners nationwide. She insisted that she "think(s) it’s absolutely time to pass a standard" and indicated she had "already had some discussions with colleagues" about Fairness "Standard" hearings and that she "feel(s) like that’s gonna happen. Yep."

Mr. Calderone delivers us the exchange (audio here):

BILL PRESS: Yeah, I mean look: They have a right to say that. They’ve got a right to express that. But, they should not be the only voices heard. So, is it time to bring back the Fairness Doctrine?

SENATOR  DEBBIE STABENOW (D-MI): I think it’s absolutely time to pass a standard. Now, whether it’s called the Fairness Standard, whether it’s called something else – I absolutely think it’s time to be bringing accountability to the airwaves. I mean, our new president has talked rightly about accountability and transparency. You know, that we all have to step up and be responsible. And, I think in this case, there needs to be some accountability and standards put in place.

BILL PRESS: Can we count on you to push for some hearings in the United States Senate this year, to bring these owners in and hold them accountable?

SENATOR DEBBIE STABENOW (D-MI): I have already had some discussions with colleagues and, you know, I feel like that’s gonna happen. Yep.

They's a-coming, in some form or fashion, whether it's the Fairness Doctrine, the Fairness Standard, localism or minority ownership.  No matter how they intend to travel, the destination remains the same: silencing conservative talk radio.

We have no problem at all with Bill Press speaking as freely and as often as he likes, unimpeded by crushing government regulation.  We wish only that he and his fellow censors, like Senator Stabenow, would return the favor.

The biggest stress involved with arguing with a lib is keeping their mind focused on the logical progression that ends up refuting their position.

Debbie’s husband’s little hooker friend is back in the news today. Got herself knocked up and is going to jail for violating her probation.

Debbie Stabenow's shot across the bow of Free Speech is not surprising. The enormous success - and subsequent influence - of conservative 'talk radio' and the abject failure of liberal attempts to 'balance' that success with their own brand of political talk made this move completely predictable once the left gained power.

I thought Obama would wait until his 'stimulus' bill passed - in some form - before moving on to silencing conservative talk radio. Apparently Debbie Stabenow let the cat out of the bag, for which we should be grateful. Now we know it's coming - very soon - and can prepare. I'm certain Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity and the other major conservative talk radio hosts will have their network's attorney's ready to fight any congressional action to implement another version of the cynically named 'Fairness Doctrine'

Senator Stabenow has inadvertently sounded the alarm for us and now, we'll either fight this coming outrage or stand silent, permanently.

I faxed and e-mailed the following to the misguided Senator. Subject line: Constitutional Refresher

First Amendment to the United States Constitution

“Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances.”

I found this interesting. The Senator’s philandering husband is co-founder of the liberal TalkUSA Radio network. Before that he worked for Air America (also liberal radio) before it tanked in 2006.

Is she trying to keep him employed so he has less time to visit seedy hotel rooms with hookers?

“paid prostitute”

Is..there..any..other..kind....?

Heck, if little Debbie’s husband had an actual unattached single woman girlfriend, who would blame him?

Anyway, Stab-me-now is really getting in touch with her Stalinist inner self. Doomed to fail.

From that photo, what she needs to do is join PETA and declare a moratorium on the slaughter of cheeseburgers.

;^)

If the dems insist on this then Republican should say “fine” as long as it applies to TV also. But it would be limited to public TV and not cable (MSNBC, CNN, etc.) so I’m not so sure that’s the right tactic either. (I’m just thinking out loud)

Wasn’t it this woman’s husband that recently got busted trying to pick up some prostitute?

Don’t pay her...

A different take on this...

Local Payback.

You see Tues Night The Governor ( Granholm ) requested to broadcast her State of the State Address on WJR.

WJR said no, L Brooks Patterson ( Oakland Country Commissioner Republican who wants to run for Governor) booked this slot months ago. They carried her, Tape Delayed...

Granholm send her husband and minions all over the place to Trash Talk WJR, which has a conservative bent.

L Brooks did give the Gov a few zingers.... :-)

Just a guess, this is payback to WJR for not kissing Granholm's @$$...

“I WILL USE my 2nd AMENDMENT to Protect my 1st!”

These sonsofbitches in Washington need to be reminded WHO is ‘accountable’ to WHOM! We abosolutely need a million Americans and their guns loaded with one symbolic round to march to Washington. There is a Constitution! This is America!

WE The People are not “accountable” to this demented sow.
