The article goes on to say that the boy was charged with weapons offences and was released to his parents on $1,000 bail.

Too bad the barrel was welded shut.

The kids in these cases should go after the principal first, then the vice principal and so on down. The bullies should get theirs only if there are enough bullets left and the police have not yet arrived.

It's sad how far we've fallen. My father required his students to bring their firearms to school. How else were they going to compete on days of Rifle Team matches? Other students brought their guns into school (on the bus) to work on in Shop.

Many people today are so ignorant of our country that they can't conceive of such a thing, nor of the much lower crime rates we had. :-(

IMO the kid should not be charged with anything. The school ought to be put through a comprehensive anti-bullying program instead.

Ms. Ferns said the boy was diagnosed as depressed and anxious after being verbally and physically bullied for several years...

I would like to thank our students and staff for the way they handled the situation.

Too bad the magnificent teacher and administrator couldn't have handled the several years of bullying in such an efficient manner. Several years of physical and verbal bullying. What would Freepers do under similar circumstances? When the authorities cannot do it for you, then there comes a time to take care of your own problems. This 'boy' had enough and realized a few things. Too bad he'll now be medicated until he's 40. Just another win for the public education system. They attained their goal of creating another manageable citizen.

How about we ban government schools?

So the kid waved around a fairly blunt plate of metal and a door stop? What's the deal? Oh yeah, government schools are like Lord of the Flies and no one cares because they don't want to be with their own kids anyway.

re: The barrel had been welded shut.

I hate to be nit picker but that’s no longer a firearm, is it? It’s a club, perhaps a hammer, a movie prop, but it’s not a firearm.

It also said the object-formerly-know-as-a-gun was legally registered. Why would that be necessary.

I am not defending what the kid did. Purely foolish, although in his mind probably a good idea. I am lamenting the death of common sense.

The teacher was outstanding,” the mother told City News. She added that there was a lot of compassion for the boy.

It was especially wonderful the way the teacher allowed this child to be bullied to the breaking point. Isn't there some kind of government award for this level of outstandingness?
