Steph: Stimulus ‘Great Success’ For Obama; Only Mistake Was Being Too Bi-Partisan
FinkelBlog ^ | Mark Finkelstein

Looks like George Stephanopolous is single-handedly trying to balance out the criticism of the Obama stimulus plan, noted here and here, that the weekend edition of Good Morning America has recently aired. Appearing this morning, Stephanopoulos proclaimed that Pres. Obama has achieved a “great success” with the plan. His only error? Being too bi-partisan.

Co-anchor Bill Weir seconded Steph’s emotion, lamenting that the president’s achievement has been lost in all the rancor.

BILL WEIR: What could President Obama have done differently in these first 20 days to fulfill those promises on non-partisan nirvana in Washington?

GEORGE STEPHANOPOULOS: I think part of the problem that I think some White House officials I talk to you concede is that he put too much emphasis on “non-partisan nirvana” rather than on getting the job done. They made bi-partisanship the goal rather than the means to the end.

The media has become a caricature of itself. Steph should step down due to his conflict of interest.

Mr. Stephanopolous’ livelyhood doesn’t hinge on dealing with the disappointment of the voters when this “stimulus” doesn’t stimulate. Its easy for him to pontificate.

The fact that Obama was able to make this a “bipartisan” proposal allows him to come back in 6 months and blame the republicans for making it too small and insisting on another trillion.

Obama is playing chess here, thinking a few moves ahead.

Stephycoccus gets his talking points directly from Rahmbo during the daily morning conference-call fagfests between the White House and leftist media figures operating in the NY/DC Beltway loop.

He and his buddies “Skeletar” and “The Forehead” plot strategy with Obama’s Chief of Staff on a daily conference call. So much for non biased journalism.

Steph, as usual, completely misses the point of Obama's bi-partisan push for his supposed stimulus bill.

Obama wants bi-partisanship to minimize the political damage that he expects from this giant give-away to his political patrons. You are seeing this damage already as the public's approval of the stimulus package steadily falls. Add to this the likelihood that Obama also realizes that the $Trillion dollars that he is spending won't get the economy going again with resulting additional negative political fallout and you can see his thinking: He wants to make sure that the Republicans get their share of the blame and don't make any political gains that could help them in 2010. It is that simple.

Whats the problem? harry reid and nancy pelosi told us back in ‘06, give us control of congress and we’ll change the direction of America. At that time, GDP was growing strongly, over 4%, and unemployment stood at about 4.5%

Metrosexualopolous just laid bare the utter failure of being a GOP bi-partisan moderate. There is no upside to conservatism by engaging in “bi-partisanship” (aka My Way or the Highway) with liberals. Moderates are the disease carrier.
