Three Republican Senators Voting with Dems Targeted [Specter, Snowe, Collins]
Human Events ^ | 2009-02-10

The Senate today passed a massive $838 billion economic stimulus package while Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner gave only scant details on the next step of the financial bailout package.

Wall Street was not impressed as the Dow Jones Industrial Average fell sharply, down over 300 points by mid-afternoon.

Three Republican senators - Susan Collins and Olympia Snowe of Maine and Arlen Specter of Pennsylvania - joined with the Democratic majority in passing the stimulus package on a 61-37 vote.

The bill will now have to be reconciled with a House version that relied more on spending programs and less on tax cuts than the Senate bill. No Republicans voted on the bill in the House.

The three Republican senators who voted with the Democrats were promptly targeted by the National Republican Trust PAC. The political action committee said it would seek defeat Sen. Specter in the 2010 elections by financially backing his primary opponent.

“Sen. Specter voted for the so-called stimulus bill, mortgaging the future of Pennsylvania’s children and grandchildren” said Scott Wheeler, executive director of the National Republican Trust PAC. “This bill will do nothing to help the millions of Americans who need a job, want to buy a home, want to start a business – in other words it will do nothing to really stimulate the economy. It will just line the pockets of liberal political hacks to whom the Democratic Party is beholden. Sen. Specter and other Republicans who voted for this travesty will be held accountable.”

Geithner left unexplained many of the details on how he would proceed spending the remaining $350 billion of the $700 billion Troubled Asset Recovery Plan (TARP) started under President Bush.

The plan includes a new public-private partnership that would seek to unclog the credit markets by buying up toxic securities.

They all sound moderate when running.

Think Webb and the like.

Heck Zero claimed he was for “small government” and “lower taxes.”

“The Senate today passed a massive $838 billion economic stimulus package....”

####

They did not.

They passed an historically abysmal government expansion package.

Gee who is editing Human Events these days?

I think Specter could be bumped off but I doubt the 2 dimwits from Maine are very worried. Collins has a long way to go before her next re-election.

Their conduct on this Porkulus Bill is treason to America. 20 years of Welfare Reform, GONE. Just like that.

We weren’t fooled. Unfortunately too many idiots were. And yet people still ask why I’m a Republican.

I gave $100 too. I haven’t given to the RNC since the 2004 election. It just didn’t feel right.

Boy...this did. I need to do something besides read posts and feel helpless. I like that the PAC is targeting those three for replacement!

I don't understand why Snowe and Collins continue, decade after decade to pretend to be Republicans /Conservatives. They are not in any way. Being that they are from the Elitist East Coast, (North East), are they not ashamed to be called Republicans?

It's just so sickening to see the same weird crooked, liars decade after decade. I've been asking freepers for years to name ONE U.S.Senator that that they could say is a role model for their sons and daughters. There is never a answer.

One thing we as conservatives need to do is start now up front with the message that any and all recovery, if there is any in the next 1-3 years has NOTHING, ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to do with the generational theft porkulus bill the fat piggys voted for.

ANY recovery will be because we, the AMERICAN PEOPLE will NOT be held under the filthy thumb of the Marxist Democrat party.

We have to start now, we have to start drilling our representatives to stay on that message. They need to state factually why that would be so. DeMint, McConnell, Pence, Gov. Sanford (whoever) absolutely need to start NOW repeating this is how ANY and ALL recovery will happen. It will happen INSPITE of the Marxists now in power. The American people will use whatever liberties are left at hand to innovate.

I’m going to start emailing party leadership tomorrow and start hammering them to start controlling the message for once. Get in front first, set the agenda and repeat... and repeat. We also need to keep calling, writing, e-mailing and faxing our disgust, keep the pressure up, we are NOT the followers. We are not playing their game. We are now the patriotic dissenters.

Ah.... we’re never gonna do it. Who am I fooling (from New Hampshire with two of the most pathetic Senators you could every imagine — Shaheen (dumb as a box of rocks) and Judd Gregg (what more needs to be said).

This is not the Porkulus Bill, it should be heralded as "The Marxism Conversion Act of 2009".

Washington DC shall henceforth be renamed Obamastan (pronounced oh-bah-mah-stahn), and we shall be known as the United Socialist States of North Amerika.

Now, let's go play "pin the spine testicles on the RINO".

What connection between Einhorn (dirt bag murderer) and Specter?

Specter was Einhorn’s lawyer and managed to get bail for Einhorn on a murder charge, which was unheard of. Einhorn escaped to France, where he remained for about 20 years. Well, maybe not that long, but, you get the idea. Specter was also the DA in Phila, at one time.
