Cat is building a new plant in Seguin, Texas. I wouldn't bet any rehires will be unionized.

That's right! Imagine all the people who will be given jobs if they build more million dollar heavy excavators. And all those displaced workers who will step into one of those machines and put them to work.
From the McDonalds burger line to a D-9K, building roads, civil centers, stadiums and bridges. No skill required.....
And among other news from the Mother Goose Skool of career planning........

In the meantime CAT a few ours ago said this
Caterpillar offers early retirement to 2,000 production workers nationwide due to downturn
The plan follows previously announced reductions, and more voluntary and involuntary cuts may be needed, the company said.

Here is a preview of Caterpillar's newest product.
It will be used extensively after the Soylent Stimulus program on page 623 of the legislation is implemented.

My share of the bail out would make a down payment on a nice 637 motor scraper. A more enjoyable machine would be hard to find.

Would you want a laid off Starbucks employee building bridges? Nope, and you wouldn't want me building them either. But then I'm an out-sourced software guy with 25 years of experience sitting behind a keyboard.

The 637 is faster and loads itself. We owned three 627s and later traded them in for two 637s and got more production.
