RUSH: Let's go to the audio sound bites. This is, let's see, Brad Sherman (Democrat-California) interviewing -- or interrogating -- the bank CEOs yesterday as part of the House Financial Services Committee hearing.
SHERMAN: I'd like you to raise your hand if your company currently owns or leases a private plane. Let the record show all the hands, uh, went up except, uh, for the, uh, gentleman from, uh, Goldman Sachs. Gentlemen, we know that it is extremely expensive to operate these planes, that you could sell them and generate capital for your company and that capital could be used to repay taxpayers malady. The big show of not buying one particular new plane flies in the face of how you're really flying.
RUSH: Folks, I cannot tell you how this infuriates me. This Sherman guy obviously is a dunce. For a member of Congress to be telling CEOs of anything, they have to sell their jets? Does this guy not understand, for crying out loud, this Congress is supposed to be about creating jobs, we're told. They're out there trying to destroy the automobile business. Now they're trying to destroy private aviation. Do they have no idea who it is that flies these airplanes and why? Do they have no idea who it takes to build these airplanes? The company that owns Cessna is based in Providence, Rhode Island. They just laid off 4,600 people! They just laid off 4,600 workers at the company that makes Cessna jets. Now, Cessna has one of their assembly plants is in Wichita, Kansas, of course. But the outfit that owns them is a company called Textron. Let's see, Textron...

How does this moron Sherman get from California to wasington D.C., by Subway??? And you can bet he never paid for the cost of the ticket since he became a feckless wonder in the “Congress”.
Watching these A—holes interrogating any one makes me ashamed .
RV = GOOD
What's wrong with this picture?
Wow... I hiccuped!
I will be the owner of one of these as soon as possible. I learned to fly twins in one of these, a Beech Model 18
I wish one would have said, “I’ll answer - as soon as the SENATORS who have flown on business jets raise THEIR hands, and admit they flew on the jets of businesses that wanted to kiss their butts to get government money.”
And since this question should have been anticipated, maybe even say, “I used a business jet fewer times last year than YOU did - 17 to 23”, or whatever the correct number is.
We have the 200. It seats 7 + Pilot the way we have it configured. If I remember correctly the variable hourly cost is around $500 an hour, but that was before fuel went through the roof. Now that I think about, that 3.5 million sounds low, I may be wrong about the cost. I believe the pilot told me maximum payload was around 2500#. Anyway, anything I purchase will have to be under $100000 and have a total hourly cost of less than $200 an hour (less cost of aircraft) so if the plane is completely out of my league, the figures don’t stick as well. The way my portfolio is dropping, I may have to settle for an ultralight!
This is one sweet aircraft. However, it appears that the left tire is off the rim.
” a Beech Model 18 “
Is there anything sweeter than a Beechcraft? If you haven’t been, check out the Beechcraft Heritage Museum in Tullahoma, Tennessee. It’s in the current Feb. 2009 edition of Flying magazine. I am planning on swinging down my next trip to Nashville. If you get the Model 18, consider yourself one lucky dog, I have seen one up close and that is one beautiful bird.
Merrill Lynch, however, came to the taxpayers (including me), hat in hand after running the whole damn economy into the ground. They can fly commercial and get paid GS scale. These Gordon Gekko wannabes don't have any right to complain about the restrictions placed on them by the Government.
Don't like the Government's restrictions, don't take the People's money.
Regards,
ES
I would have brought that. Throw their crap back in their faces.
I saw that too, wonder if they fit on the lift at Wheel Works ;-)
I saw a guy who I assumed was seeding fish in one of those in the Sierra a while back. He was flying the aircraft like he was making the terminal run on the Death Star, went sideways between two spires, roaring among the crags... My two thoughts were “Crazy bastard” and “Damn, that looks fun!”
Lived in Wichita last year.......great city. However, this will really hurt them even with the attempts to get it going well.
They might want to have that flat looked at.
The easy solution for this kind of problem is to not lean on the taxpayer to cover the freight for bad business.
Of course, in a better world the government would apply the same standard to welfare recipients and go around slapping the iPods out of the hands of career freeloaders.
Hey. Those are the best Firestone’s money can buy.
What is the penalty for verbally lashing back at the a-hole politicians during these hearings. For once I wish one of these CEO’s gets the ballz to let loose and let them have it. These lifetime arrogant buttwipe politicians need a verbal spanking!
