WASHINGTON: US federal authorities have claimed to have unearthed a major H-1B visa racket with the arrest of at least 11 persons, most of them suspected to be of Indian origin.
Though the officials did not reveal the citizenship of those arrested, the names released indicated that almost all of them are either Indian or persons of Indian origin.
Vision Systems Group, an IT company headquartered in South Plainfield New Jersey, has been indicted on 10 federal counts including conspiracy and mail fraud charge. Viswa Mandalapu is its CEO and president, according to the information available on the company's website.

By and large the Indians I know are extremely productive citizens and highly educated and I’ve seen very few cases of (illegal)immigration fraud among them which by itself is a wonder here in NYC. I’m a big anti-illegal immigrant guy and I do feel that even the legal immigrants that are allowed into the US should be stopped. But I have to say we could much worse than Indian immigrants.
And all this time they claimed they never went off the reservation.

Besides, this isn’t about the origins of the workers as much as it’s about the bastard employers trying to short change the American work force.
I watched a couple episodes of Morgan Spurlock’s show 30 days and was actually surprised by the balance. (the couple I saw anyway)
On one show he had an IT professional who’s job was outsourced, go to India and do his job there. Mostly I was impressed with the foresight of the Indians. They know that they’re living in a boom time that will end when someone cheaper comes along. Also interesting was their concern that they’re losing their way of life. The guy said that his family is disintigrating because they all work different hours and don’t have meals or pray together anymore.
I agree, many people from India are very decent and law abiding. They are just looking to make a living as well. It’s actually the black hearts of the employers that are trying to depress the wages.
They invite the H1-B visa workers here in order to undercut American wages. The Indian person is just a pawn, the EMPLOYER is the one who is really responsible.

Here is another nasty little secret that many do not know about. In order to get an H1-B, the person must be sponsored by the employer. In most cases these are temporary or contract workers who are employed by an Indian consulting firm or temporary firm. They are then placed on a contract or a project at a client, like AT&T or Phillips Petroleum. The Indian firm is the employer so they sponsor the indian worker, they are put up in shoddy housing with at least two persons per room, usually more. They are paid extremely low for their skill set, maybe 60% less than the prevailing wage, but they are still billed at a high rate, just less than what an American would get. Example, Indian company pays Kumar a $20/ hour rate but bills Phillips Petroleum $70 / hour for his services. The American with the degree from University of Florida has a pay rate of $55 / hour and his American consulting firm has to bill him to Phillips at $80 / hour. Phillips will take the Indian.
Why will the Indian be willing to accept such a low wage? Because he wants a green card. There is a waiting period to get one. If he leaves his current company and takes a new job at a different company his sponsorship is no longer valid, unless the original sponsor transfers the sponsorship. If he has to get a brand new sponsorship, he legally cannot be here and work until the new sponsorship is approved, it’s government so it takes a while. So he risks being deported and on top of that, the waiting period for his green card resets to the current sponsorship. The Indian companies will NOT transfer a sponsorship and all the Indians know this. I have also heard that in many instances, the Indian company will hold onto the Indian worker’s passport. As a result, they are basically indentured servants and will put up with it until they get their green card. Once they get their green card, they want that very same $55 / hour rate that they originally kept an American from getting. I deal with the Indian firms every day, day in and day out...

Yes I did and “employers” who hire illegals or otherwise seek to undercut Americans are no better than crack dealers.
My sister worked for a small biomedical consulting firm that did this to its H-1B workers, and the employers were Indian-Americans.
These “employers” who do everything they can to circumvent American workers and bring foreigners here instead, so they can be paid slave wages, are criminals in my book.
Unemployed software kind of American here. This week talking to an Indian company. Rude, poor communications, sloppy. I imagine they preferred Indian candidates. Who should I talk to ? Congressman?
My uncle closed the doors on his IT business because he couldn’t remain competitive hiring Americans in the face of incoming H1B visa holders. Said his conscience was more important than the money. He’s teaching now.
