The 72-hour Kit: Gotta Rosary for the run?
By Ben Fisher - Jesus Be With Us Published February 13th, 2009
In the event of an emergency, do you have a 72-hour or Bug-out Kit? Gotta Rosary for the run?
A 72-hour kit is a bag, bucket, or box of everything you will need (food, water, medicine, ) to survive 72-hours as you flee a natural disaster, terrorist event, or civil unrest.
The idea is that you should be able to get where youre evacuating to within three-days, or that civil authorities (police, national guard, etc.) will have brought the unrest under control.

Yep. Got one. Up here we call them “Blizzard Kits” or “Tornado Kits.”
Is 72 hours enough time to get out of Dodge when the Obama Corps comes calling?
No.
Shoot, a feller could have a pretty good weekend in Vegas with all that stuff!
I’m not a survivalist, but I am prepared to hold out for an extended time, which would include taking in my 4 kids and my 8 grandkids.
I do not intend to run.
But the idea of preparing for “field operation” might have some merit. I have lots of camping gear, but it is not organized. And commo gear.
We live in the “Big Nothing” in Texas, and the river breaks would be a natural for hiding and living off the land. Very possible.
But I cannot see that happening in Texas, no matter how insane the edicts from DC.
Survival plan? We have, and it’s a hell of a lot safer than your 401k or your flood insurance policy provider or your credit card issuer.
The only thing we don’t have at 668 is an able-bodied male. Fortunately we live nearly surrounded by badass war veterans — WW2, Korea, Viet Nam, and Gulf. They would go down hard...but when the need arises we should be able to trap a few of them. ;)
No. one item in a bugout kit should be some method of personal defense, else someone else who covets your bugout kit may just take it.
How many of the military do you think would actually fire on our own citizens?
I agree with you. My family and I were talking yesterday about some of this. Our concern is with Mexico imploding (and many more Mexicans coming here) and the recession or if it gets to a depression, fewer jobs, etc. people are going to be desperate and hungry and willing to do whatever to get what they need.
I found out this week about the number of gangs we have here (18 different ones) and those that are very dangerous gangs.
I will have no problem with defending myself or what I have. However, we are in town so living off the land could be a issue.
No bug out bag for us, we’re right where we want to be.
“Is 72 hours enough time to get out of Dodge when the Obama Corps comes calling?”
No!
THAT is why you need to be prepared to STAND AND FIGHT!
(different “kit”)

How many of the military do you think would actually fire on our own citizens?
***None. But didn’t Hussein want to create some kind of “civilian” force? They’re the ones even our military should fear.
Absolutely.
Remember it took 130,000 troops to suppress Iraq, a country the size of Texas ans with the population of Kalifornia.
Considering how America-hating some ‘rats are, I’m sure some of them have joined for the chance to shoot up some Reds(staters).
I agree that is how it is planned.
Street thugs taking on crusty old farmers and WWII, Korean, Viet Nam vets?
I have my doubts.
And there were thousands of tons of unsecured munitions laying around. That includes mortars and missiles. The American public is unarmed by comparison.
It would depend. I dont think the National Guard would. Most USMC units wouldnt.
If Obama allows people from other countries to join, then that would be where the biggest problem would be. Or he could bring in NATO or UN troops to “secure” the Nuclear weapons or some other excuse.
UN and NATO would face the largest standing army, since there area lotsa of guns here, and people who are just looking for a reason to use them.
HEAR HEAR.....
Orchard, gardens, goats, chickens, good neighbors, well,
diesel generators, lead in plenty. If this goes, nothing
would be safe. Remember the ALAMO!
That’s whay a ‘good blog’ should be posted in ‘bloggers & personal’

“The only thing we dont have at 668 is an able-bodied male. Fortunately we live nearly surrounded by badass war veterans”
Reminds me of the family next door to Clint Eastwood in “Gran Torino”. As a “badass” vet, he sure came through for them!
Nice job! I never forget the Alamo....ever.
got several 1.75s of gin and a large jar of martini olives stockpiled and ready to travel on short notice ... where’s the party?
Yes!. But do not forget an IED is easy to make and can tie up a hundred troops for most of a day.
Remington 870 or Mossberg 500 shotgun.
Ruger Mark II pistol and 10-22 rifle.
AR-15 .223 rifle.
1911 .45 caliber pistol and any pistol chambered in 9MM.
Bowie knife or any long bladed knife with sheath.
Pocket knife.
Machete
Axe
Entrenching tool or long handled shovel.
I figure that with my guns and tons of ammo... I can get everything I want...
Etch-a-sketch (powdered aluminum)
Steel wool (soaked in vinegar solution and dried for iron oxide)
fireworks sparklers (magnesium for ignition)
other useful additives include ground up hiway flares, modeling clay
and its not illegal to make your own thermite.
I should go see that. Haven’t seen a Clint Eastwood movie since I was in pigtails!
for later
Fortunately, all of my ancestors possessed survivalist instincts or I would not be here. Furthermore, it is good that few others possess such survivalist instincts, thereby making it easier to cull those with week-kneed attitudes (mostly sniveling liberals seeking handouts) that make it easier for the rest of us who will never give up. Don’t be misled, there is nothing wrong with surviving, whatever it takes.
Nope. Not yet. But I was heading towards Best Buy this afternoon. Dick’s Sporting Goods is right next door.
I guess the question is, do you want to be on the highway with a million other people trying to leave the area? I prefer a safe haven in my own home.
100,000 armed and determined men could overthrow this nation if they had the support of the majority of the people.
The US Military MIGHT occasionally shoot (it would be rare and only to defend themselves IMHO) but their rules of engagement would be so severely restricted by the pu$$ys in DC that they wouldn't be very effective.
How many of the military do you think would actually fire on our own citizens?””
A questin I have pondered. Who would follow the orders of Hussein Obama to kill their fellow countrymen?? Time will tell—option 2 that has occurred based on the historical record, is to turn on obama and exercise the right of citizens to dispose of corrupt, tyrannical government—a duty and a right of every citizen. I would much prefer a military coup led by honorable men in uniform than having to follow a fool such as the current reigning Hussein. He is stealing our children’s future with this so-called stimulus con—this is tyranny.
Fairly good movie, but the ending sucked.
Without giving away the story, in a similar situation, I would have burned the place down and killed them all as they ran out.
I share your concern.
I think it is part of his plan:
Cloward-Piven Strategy
From: http://www.discoverthenetworks.org/groupProfile.asp?grpid=6967
First proposed in 1966 and named after Columbia University sociologists Richard Andrew Cloward and Frances Fox Piven, the Cloward-Piven Strategy seeks to hasten the fall of capitalism by overloading the government bureaucracy with a flood of impossible demands, thus pushing society into crisis and economic collapse.
In their 1966 article, Cloward and Piven charged that the ruling classes used welfare to weaken the poor; that by providing a social safety net, the rich doused the fires of rebellion. Poor people can advance only when the rest of society is afraid of them, Cloward told The New York Times on September 27, 1970. Rather than placating the poor with government hand-outs, wrote Cloward and Piven, activists should work to sabotage and destroy the welfare system; the collapse of the welfare state would ignite a political and financial crisis that would rock the nation; poor people would rise in revolt; only then would the rest of society accept their demands.
The key to sparking this rebellion would be to expose the inadequacy of the welfare state. Cloward-Pivens early promoters cited radical organizer Saul Alinsky as their inspiration. Make the enemy live up to their (sic) own book of rules, Alinsky wrote in his 1972 book Rules for Radicals. When pressed to honor every word of every law and statute, every Judaeo-Christian moral tenet, and every implicit promise of the liberal social contract, human agencies inevitably fall short. The systems failure to live up to its rule book can then be used to discredit it altogether, and to replace the capitalist rule book with a socialist one.
Add Gold to the list, and my wife is deadly with the 500.
I have had one of these “kits” on hand for years, I built it up about eight years ago... they are easy to build and you just need update periodically (especially perishable stuff-Fresh Batts, MREs, water, personal meds, medical supplies, etc..). All the basics are contained in a back pack for easy carry and storage.
Separate kit for weapons, ammo, ghillie and other “tactical” supplies...
One final thought: single family dwellings with no structural organization for defense and survival outside the family unit is likely to fail. You must organize with like-minded freepers in order to survive.
You can’t eat gold and it can’t help protect you.
This is good for people to knoe and prepare for...but hardly a new thought. There are several different companies that sell these kits/bags/ buckets, (that the bucket in in full emergency use, ahs a seat to use it as a toilet.) since long before the Y2K scare.
I figure that with my guns and tons of ammo... I can get everything I want...””
If time get really tough, ammo value will exceed the price of platinum and diamonds.
