~ EXCERPT ~
Three times a day, the inmates at Madison Correctional Institution discover what a budget deficit tastes like.

Corn bread replaces sliced bread at some meals. Inmates will get one sweetener packet instead of four. In the Sunshine State's prisons, orange juice is made from concentrate.
"It's all right, but 100 percent juice is better," said Charles Christian, 24, six months into a two-year term at Madison for drug and weapon offenses. "Sometimes it's all right like the peanut butter. They give you enough, but it's hard to eat, it's so thick. And they don't give you enough meat."

Waaaaaaaaaaah!!!!
Is monsieur’s meal not to his liking? I’ll speak to the chef immediately!
At last a use for all that contaminated peanut butter.
Glancing at the heading I thought the was going to be about mistakes or problems with the license plates they make behind bars.!
Let them eat Green Baloney.
i didn’t think they had to make them any longer....
i say put them back in the everglades and let them fend for their food....they should be so lucky eating better than the homeless and having a dry cot every nite to sleep on...they made their choice to break the law...let them deal with the punishment....
Oh, and we don't get fresh orange juice in the chow halls, either, but I don't hear anyone whining about it.
Eagerly awaiting Leonard Pitts’ tearjerker column on these poor souls.

Some one should tell Charles Christian, 24, that things could be worse.
I saw a show called LockUp and the prisoners on Rikers Island eat better than most of us
So the prisoners aren’t getting their orange juice fresh squeezed from the guards any more? Not enough lumps in their tea? And their peanut butter isn’t smooth enough? Cry me a river.
If they can’t do the time, then don’t do the crime.
Feed them soilent green.
Last I heard: Sheriff Joe Arpaio - no smokes, no coffee, no salt/pepper, meal costs reduced to 40 cents/serving (also 2 squares a day, not 3) & the inmates pay for them ..... the Florida whiners are living pretty high on the hog if you ask me.
I was wondering where all the recalled peanut butter was going. Glad to see it’s being put to good use.
Like they had three HOTS and a cot before they were jailed. Right. Sure.
When prisoners are eating better than members of our military, something is *very* wrong!
