Doesn’t the United States make anything anymore?

The U. S. by far remains the world’s leading manufacturer by value of goods produced. It hit a record $1.6 trillion in 2007 — nearly double the $811 billion in 1987. For every $1 of value produced in China’s factories, America generates $2.50.

I am serious. The only reason to cut minimum is to pay people lower wages...minimum is not exactly a great amount of money as it is.

Make your case why cutting minimum wage out of the picture is a good idea...how is it helpful?

Strange, why would the Government set it so low the? I mean why not just make it 40 Bucks an hour then everyone is rich?

I don’t belong to a union...not even the teachers union. You don’t have to in Georgia where I taught...so you should not assume. As for benefits, traditionally people received benefits through jobs...if this ends, then we will have national health care...don’t think it’s a good idea, but it will happen. As for, your contractors, what do you do? What kind of business?

Why should I care about how the government decides to set minimum wage?

"Make your case why cutting minimum wage out of the picture is a good idea...how is it helpful?"

Because the minimum wage is an unfunded mandate by the Government. They are in essence setting a bottom floor in the labor market. And by doing so they skew costs upward. and thus then business charges more to cover the costs and we are back to square one.

The market is like a body of water, it seeks its own level. Ego you can't raise the water on only one side of the bathtub.

I think having a bottom is not a bad thing. Although I am against salary caps except in bailed out banks.

I see so your History Education is just as lacking as your Economic education.

SOrry until the rise of the Socialist/labor movement you got paid to work, and nothing else. No one paid your Doctor bills or watched your kid for you and employees didn't expect it either.

Twas the Socialists started us down this road to madness.

Explain then why a 10 dollar minimum wage is better or worse than a 20 dollar minimum wage.

Having a bottom kills entry level jobs for teenagers. Besides, everytime you raise the 'bottom' everyone else up the chain wants a raise, also. I think this is how some unions work.

I told you before by the way, I am not union...not that I am a union hater like you...union derangement syndrome. However, since I am obviously too stupid to understand the benefits of slave labor like you guys and don’t really enjoy being insulted (union weenie), I think I’ll say goodnight.

Yeah I figured as much being we were down to where you had to show us numbers on why minimum wages should be set at a particular level.

Its where all the protectionists bid us goodnight.

I have 21 employees in my IT department. They all make far more than minimum wage.

The average wage in my group is not yet in excess of six figures. But it is close to that.

I don’t outsource, yet. I don’t have cheap offshore labor that can do what my people do, yet.

But it is people like you that make it impossible to continue hiring within the U.S. Who are you to tell me who to hire and fire? It doesn’t make sense.

I don’t want whiners. I want people that still care about customer service. People that don’t need to be “managed” minute by minute all day.

But if my “average” required wage gets pushed up... Then according to your thinking I need to fire one or two people. I still have a budget to meet. Which people should I terminate to meet your requirements?

I have a double degree in Chemistry and Biochemistry with a minor in math. I have worked in many different industries (including pharmaceuticals, food industry, teaching and my last job was as a forensic accountant-not my thing but since I uncovered a massive fraud that saved the company several hundred thousand dollars and lead to prosecutions, they offered me the job so stuff your arrogance and your insults. You talk of socialism and sneer at those who don’t agree with you...what you fail to understand is the simple fact that your policies will cause socialism in the end... unemployed people with no insurance will turn to the government.
