It could happen. Reagan and the Gingrich revolutions took it all away from the demonrats after what, 40 years of demonrat rule?

The question is whether there is some conservatives who can bring what Reagan and Gingrich did into 2010 and beyond.

Unfortunately, those gift from God conservatives don't exist, are invisible or aren't quite ready for prime time.

“People are enraged, and this is only the beginning.”

No, they’re not. Most Obama voters still think he walks on water and will “change” things for them. Besides, the way things are going he will be dictator soon. I wonder how soon he will come up with the Chavezian idea to make him president-for-life.

Questions not answered:

How many pitchforks are stockpiled by the “popular anger rising?” Is there enough rope? Are we invested in tar and feathers?

And they are not politicians.

"Sorry guys, but the Democrat party is not the one self-destructing. We do indeed live under a one-party system. The Republicans are a fake opposition party, propped up by the democrats as a “boogieman” to scare the American people into more socialism."

"Why is it, do you think, that the Republicans had a majority in at least one house of Congress since 1994 and never rolled back socialism even one iota? Not even when they had the Presidency and majorities in both houses?"

There is a lot of truth in what you say.

Once again, "The Republicans are a fake opposition party."You impress me as much as you depress me. Really something to think about.

Hmmm, what was your response in 1976 when the GOP had less congresman, less senators, and lost the White House to an incompetent buffoon like Jimmy Carter?

Did you say the GOP was “dead” then, too?

Not at all - and that’s my point. Wake up - nothing is the same, everything has changed - we aren’t just “in a cycle.”

Whoever he or she is, they will rise out of the ashes of the GOP. It will happen when things look bleak, but it will happen..

They can’t stop themselves.

Exactly.

The libs are in power and they are like dieters locked in a candy store over a long weekend.

I have a conservative friend who moved here from Canada not too long ago. He seems to have spent 2008 in a cold sweat. I, on the other hand, spent the last year patiently reassuring him that the end of the world is not nigh, due to the fact that Democrats always, and I means always implode on impact when they are elected.

They can't seem to help themselves from immediately attempting massive power grabs, instituting a fiesta of labyrinthine regulations, and trying to make every day March 15th by stabbing each other in the back in their mad dash for more personal power before voters come to their eventual senses and toss them out again.

I don't relish their years in office, but as long as their power structure is such that it encourages a steady stream of would-be saviors who immediately and thoroughly royally screw things up, I can tolerate it.

My only concern right now is that we field candidates in the next election that are actually different in substantive ways from the Democrats. When the people get tired of tax & spend, they'll demand an alternative. Conservatives have to step into that void.

The GOP won 54 seats in 1994. Not saying it will be a repeat, but it’s not like 40 seats is impossible - not by a longshot.

Why exactly do you think it’s impossible? It’s been done many times before. What factors (specifically) are at play today that were not in 1994?

The conservatives are fragmented and leaderless, and approximately 10% of their voters and activists will be gone.
The electorate is under a strong delusion.
Obozo will increase his grip via the census redistricting, increased unionization, ACORN, censorship, amnesty, expanded dependent class, and so on. Since he own the MSM, Hollywood, all three branches of government, Wall Street, higher education, unions, etc., the voice of conseratives will be overwhelmed.
The world will be on the brink of complete chaos, so people will buy into the fear tactic of "now is not the time to change horses in midstream.
"The one" will have world leaders on his side (leading up to the election) who will be warning the U.S. to keep him in light of what's going on in the world.

If you see an equivalence between 1993 (pre-9/11, pre-markets destruction, pre-unprecedented magic negro worship, etc.) and last November, you're in denial.

You’re assuming a lot of things will happen that may or may not. I think you’ve gone overboard, personally.
