Mahatma Obama

The screencap sums things up nicely. It portrays Joe Scarborough’s reaction to the news that Pres. Obama reminds the New Yorker’s Hendrik Hertzberg of . . . Gandhi.

It was the president’s bi-partisanship in the face of Republican partisan hostility that made Hertzberg think of the non-violent Indian leader in a column in the New Yorker’s current issue. For good measure, the New Yorker editor claimed to see a parallel—in the way Pres. Obama has reacted to Rush Limbaugh—to Martin Luther King, Jr.’s interaction with . . . Bull Connor [though Hertzberg was careful to state he was not claiming Obama is MLK or that Rush is Connor]

This whole meme about the President being “bipartisan” is patent nonsense. The President said “I won” to the Republicans, allowed no input whatsoever by Republicans into Nancy Pelosi’s porkulus magnificus bill drafting. Inviting republicans (especially RINOs he can pick off) to cocktails and “wagyu beef” at the White House to schmooze them to capitulate is NOT bipartisanship in any true sense of the word.

"...the non-violent Indian leader..."

'Among the many misdeeds of British rule in India, history will look upon the Act depriving a whole nation of arms as the blackest.'

- Gandhi.

If this pattern holds, he’ll soon be Rev. Wright... oh wait, nevermind.

I had this on while I was working. I was stunned by Hertzberg’s reaction to being called out. He was unashamed, and almost confused that Joe didn’t see that Obama was at least a Gandhi, and probably more.

It was scary. Hertzberg had no sense that he had gone over the top.

I saw it this morning. The idolatry directed toward Zero is pure cultism. Considering that the media is also participants of the cult makes this a very dangerous situation.

Chris Matthews, who has a school girl crush on his Liberal messiah Obama, was on the show also defending the comparison to Gandhi.

The really despicable comparison was not Obama to Gandhi, a comparison which can be dismissed as utterly fatuous and in fact was swatted away by Joe Scarborough with the flick of his backhand, but the comparison of Obama and Martin Luther King on the one hand and Rush Limbaugh and Bull Connor on the other.

The New Yorker’s Hendrik Hertzberg was made to look so ridiculous for invoking his Gandhi comparison that he simply did what liberals do when they are in trouble, he played the race card. This was a cheap and despicable act and Scarborough should have excoriated him for it.

Here you have in microcosm the current state of all politics in America, here you have in microcosm the reason why Obama won the last election, here you have in microcosm why it is going to be so difficult to save the Republic from Obama demagoguery.

I was behind a car yesterday that had a bumper sticker that said, “What would Ghandi do?” It was right next to an “Obama/Biden” sticker. I just wanted to throw a beer bottle at the simple scumbag.
