Attorney General Eric Holder said Wednesday that despite advances, the United States remains a nation of cowards on issues involving race.
Though this nation has proudly thought of itself as an ethnic melting pot, in things racial, we have always been, and we, I believe, continue to be, in too many ways, a nation of cowards, Holder said in remarks to his staff in honor of Black History Month. His comments appear on a transcript provided by the Justice Department.
Even as we fight a war against terrorism; deal with the reality of electing an African-American, for the first time, as the president of the United States; and deal with other significant issues of the day, the need to confront our racial past and to understand our racial present, and to understand the history of African people in this country that all endures, the attorney general added.
Though race-related issues continue to occupy a significant portion of our political discussion, and though there remain many unresolved racial issues in this nation, we, average Americans, simply do not talk enough with each other about things racial.

Hey Eric, you hypocritical coward, you wanna talk about unresolved racial issues?
Alan Keyes responds to Holder:

Certainly, that’s the ticket. Race isn’t as all-encompassing an obsession as it ought to be.
It’s easy to say these things unchecked from the safety of the margins with no accountability. When YOU are responsible for the governing of a nation...you are accountable for saying things like this. Eric is about to find out how heavy is the head that wears the crown.
If we could only be as brave as Rev Wright when talking about race...Why is the Attorney General making such stupid incendiary POLITICAL statements?
Spread the word! Insulting the nation is the ticket. This is Obambi’s “malaise” speech. Go racialists!
Somebody started a thread earlier that was locked, asking the question, how black do you have to be to qualify as a "black"? Eric holder doesn't look much darker than many an Arab or Italian.
The legal answer is, you have to be at least 1/8 black to claim minority status. But the political answer seems to be, whatever you can get away with.
My attitude on race has PROFOUNDLY changed.
Not me Eric!
Obama is an elitist and a socialist.
He hates being questioned or challenged and set a policy agenda for America that is consistent with owning the most liberal voting record in the U.S. Senate.
Obama never had to actually compete for public office, enroute to his run for President. He has yet to reveal his college transcripts or any of his college writings. He’s a shadow figure, running on image rather than substance.
And you, Eric, are an irresponsible lawyer, who’s actions place politics above justice.
He’s right. Obama and Holder both owe their careers to racial cowardice.

>Holder said in remarks to his staff
Yes, but come CW2 and we’ll see that even cowards may change their ways and fight... Let’s just hope that once we win we are quick to document that the thing was NOT about race, but about the horrible injustices perpetrated on the people by the government.
I think Holder is trying to prepare us for the coming government give-away of all the foreclosed homes in our neighborhoods to, uh, umm, “unsavory” individuals. Our neighborhoods are going to become diversified and we are going to be forced to socialize with folks from “da hood.”
holder, how much money do you want to shutup? you’re annoying me.
Holder- coward, race cowards, cowards.
Hopey, changey, going, going, gone.!
Um... why do I think Holder doesn't really want us to talk to each other; I think what he has in mind is more of a one-sided lecture than a discussion.
I sure am glad we're in a post-racial society now and we don't have to worry about this crap anymore. If they want to treat Obama like the messiah, I figure he must have absolved any of us of past "sins"...
Mr. Holder, your insecurity is showing. I can prove to you that I am more multicultural than you are. However, you seem to have a certain requirement and definition for that kind of thing. You remind me of a teenager that has doubts about his manhood and being a bully is the only way you have to deal with it..
Exactly. This douche probably has as much caucasion ancestry as the rest of us.
