OKC officer pulls man over for anti-Obama sign on vehicle

An Oklahoma City police officer wrongly pulled over a man last week and confiscated an anti-President Barack Obama sign the man had on his vehicle.

The officer misinterpreted the sign as threatening, said Capt. Steve McCool, of the Oklahoma City Police Department, and took the sign, which read "Abort Obama, not the unborn."

Chip Harrison said he was driving to work when a police car followed him for several miles and then signaled for him to pull over.

''I pulled over, knowing I hadn't done anything wrong," Harrison said in a recent phone interview.

When the officer asked Harrison if he knew why he had been pulled over, Harrison said he did not.

How long will it be before they open a gulag?

Harrison said he feels his First Amendment rights were violated.

Don't forget the Fourth Amendment violation, Mr. Harrison.

This poor guy was most likely pretty freaked out about being contacted by the SS. He has a family and naturally acquiesced to the search to protect them. That’s what these abusers of authority count on.
This guy should sue the cr@p out of the police and the FEDS.

Add this incident to the list with the woman who was harassed when she dissed an Obama fundraiser - along with the many more to come.

It is the “checking” that is troubling and worrisome. The sign itself was self-explanatory. The SS did not need to go to the guy’s house. They could have just checked a lookout list or police records. If the SS doesn’t have the commonsense to figure this out, then it is troubling. Why waste an agent’s time going to the guy’s house?

The SS had no right to enter the man's home without a search warrant. No self-respecting judge would have given them one.

You don't have much experience with judges, do you? They are all interested only in covering their flanks. They know they cannot be punished for erring on the side of caution.

If you doubt this, think up the most ridiculous lie against yourself and phone it in to the child welfare services of your county. (If you haven't a child, so much the better.) Make sure you stutter and giggle uncontrollably as you make the anonymous report. They will come. They will tell you that you can do this easy or hard, but you have to bend over, let them in or else. And when you say no they will come back with a warrant and as many cops as they think they'll need. There is nothing you can do about it. Nothing.

This also works with animal abuse personnel, elder abuse, and people who investigate threats against politicians.

Be prepared to prove a negative...or teach a crash course in why you can't.

BTW Interesting note on this picture of Obama:

The New TV show "Lie To Me" used it in last night's Episode.

Here is the blurb for the show:

LIE TO ME, the compelling new drama from the producers of 24, stars Tim Roth ("The Incredible Hulk," "Reservoir Dogs") as DR. CAL LIGHTMAN, the world's leading deception expert who studies facial expressions and involuntary body language to discover not only if someone is lying, but why. When someone shrugs one shoulder, rotates a hand or raises the lower lip, Lightman knows he's lying.

Based on the real-life scientific discoveries of Paul Ekman, the series follows Lightman and his team of deception experts as they assist law enforcement and government agencies to expose the truth behind the lies.

Anyhow they discern all sorts of Body language including involuntary gestures, they used the above picture/film of Obama as an example of someone involuntarily giving "the Finger" to the person he is talking about, which was John McCain. They also showed an example of Rumsfield giving the same gesture to a reporter.

It was funny but strange to see a MSM show doing such.

Those sites were not blocked, and interestingly Ann Coulter’s was blocked as “Adult”

LMAO

It is an 'adult' site in the sense that it deals with 'adult' intellectual concepts and philosophical issues in an 'adult' (i.e. intelligent) way and not in a leftist/childlike way, but I'm guessing that this is not the working definition of 'adult' in the bowels of of the Computer Associates hive.  :-)

I would have said it would be fine if they had a warrant, and that it would be irresponsible of me to let them in otherwise.

Excellent reply!

They have a responsibility, of course. And we have a responsibility as well. Provisions have been made in the law to satisfy both without conflict. Let's abide by those provisions, and there'll be no trouble between us whatsoever.

Yes, yours is an excellent reply!

I wonder if this guy will put the sign back in his car or if others will given what happened? This guy now has his name on police and SS records and files. This is intimidation and whether the guy got off or not, it does send a message.

Fire the dimwit before he hurts someone.

Once brought into it, the Secret Service just covered their bases by following through.

This is how the Nazification of the USSA starts.

Insidious. Most people will have no idea and blithely accept that they can't get to the truth.

With all due respect to the officers, "so what if he were?"

"It is beyond debate that freedom to engage in association for the advancement of beliefs and ideas is an inseparable aspect of the "liberty" assured by the Due Process Clause of the Fourteenth Amendment, which embraces freedom of speech. Of course, it is immaterial whether the beliefs sought to be advanced by association pertain to political, economic, religious or cultural matters, and state action which may have the effect of curtailing the freedom to associate is subject to the closest scrutiny."

Heaven forbid, they might have found an American Flag, and a framed copy of the Bill of Rights, or Declaration or something "hateful" to the current admin like that.
