No, it’s never been good for you. Certain anti-oxidants in it — which can also be obtained from other sources — are partial antidotes to unhealthy habits like overeating and underexercising. You’ve always been better off skipping ALL the unhealthy habits, including wine, and if you insist on sticking with the others, better off getting the antioxidants from resveratrol.

Texas has some very good wine, but I don’t think it can be exported to other states yet. My wife and I spent our honeymoon in the Texas Hill country going to several vineyards.

A politician who bans wine will keep his head from being severed from his body by radical Islamists.

Yes there IS science behind it, most recently a British study of 1.3 million women, published yesterday.

My wine intake is limited to a drink or two on the holidays, or a seldom glass when dining out. Usually, I’ll have a Maker’s Mark instead (when out...that’s usually the best they offer), or my favorite Bourbon when home.

My aunt used to drink a shot of whiskey every night before bedtime. It finally killed her, at age 96.

Stunningly, amazingly stupid...just wow...

‘Course, that may mean French wine comes down to reasonable prices here in Texas...

Err, we were wrong about wine, but we’re sure about global warning. Err, we mean global climate change. We’ll be back next week to take your cigarettes just as soon as we raise the tax on wine to replace it.

"You’ve always been better off skipping ALL the unhealthy habits, including wine, and if you insist on sticking with the others, better off getting the antioxidants from resveratrol."

Keep in mind there is at least one study that indicates that resveratrol may not be not AS effective without being combined with the alcohol.

I enjoy a Makers on the Rocks now and again too. I also like Jamesons. I’ve been trying to get into Scotch, but it’s too pricey.

Scotch doesn’t suit my taste. And that’s fine because, as you say, it’s too pricey.

But Bourbon suits me very well, and I can afford all but the most expensive, though what I usually drink is priced reasonably (Elijah Craig).

You found a study? Wow.

Since cancer is simply cells misbehaving, just about everything under, and including, the Sun causes cancer so let’s act like grown ups.

The new wind of tyranny trying to shape public opnion in France against alcohol is due to political pandering to the Muslim immigrants in France. You can ban alcohol and pork but until France accepts sharia law there will be no peace in France.

So, Frenchmen and Frenchwomen, issue an eviction notice.
