A Moment of Clarity

I experienced a moment of clarity:

The Republican coalition can not stand the dominance of the neocons.

1) Communism possessed a powerful military force with numerous nuclear weapons. Radical Islam does not threaten us in the same way. 2) Businessmen do not feel as threatened by Islam. 3) Some in the Republican coalition will worry that Israel is using us. 4) Converting Moslems into our friends is made harder by our Middle Eastern conquests. The Communists were easier to convert by conquest, they rarely held any real love for Communism.

Neoconservatives can be a part of the coalition, but they can not dominate the coalition. Wars of choice must be avoided (particularly if the evidence that directs our decision to go to war is faulty).

Let's pretend George Bush part 2 never happened and start over.

I dream of a world without neoconservatives, without paleoconservatives, only conservatives.

Awesome! You've solved EVERYTHING!

Just marginalize all the ___cons and it'll all be peachy.

Your wisdom is a thing to behold.

Thank you all for your responses! A few of them even made sense (a little). Your replies ranged from the condescending (nathanbedford), to the hysterical (I am apparently a leftist, a Moslem-lover, an anti-Semite, I attacked the World Trade Towers, I caused World War II.), to the indecipherable (What is IBTZ? What is that cat doing? Bran muffin?)

I learned a great deal, for example I learned that neocons are a myth. Is Paul Wolfowitz really mythological, like the unicorn or the Loch Ness monster? I learned Wolfstar still thinks Saddam Hussein planned 9/11.

I imagine some of you squirming as you read my post, shouting at your computer screen - the basement echoing with your cries; then staggering to your feet, spilling Jack Daniels on your (already well-stained) t-shirt, waking up your mother (who lives upstairs), resolving immediately to fire off a response.

My crime: I don’t want the Republicans tearing at each other’s throats. I’d rather see them win elections.

My points:
1) Pakistan possesses only a small fraction of the strength of the USSR, and Pakistan is an ally (sort of). Pakistan has nuclear weapons, but they are directed at India. If Pakistan gave any weapons to Al Qaeda that country would cease to exist.
2) Israel’s interests do not always exactly coincide with our own. Sometimes they do, sometimes they don’t. Those who are loyal to the United States of America first are not monsters. And why are we sending so much aid to Israel? How does the American taxpayer benefit?
3) One of the reasons for the Republican predicament is the Iraq War, which is not popular in the U.S. (kingu you are hiding from the facts.)
4) Let’s increase our influence in the Middle East: both economic and cultural. Gulf War II didn’t help. I understand Moslems used to admire the U.S. (We weren’t imperialists like the British.) Now they throw shoes at us.

back to basics: strong military, patriotism, pro-life, traditional values, small government, free enterprise, heal the split that is killing us

Finally, don’t tell yourself that I am some kind of moderate, dainty Republican. If I saw Al Franken I’d kick him down the stairs I promise you.

The war was a mistake. We are not winning the hearts and minds of Moslems. Saddam Hussein was not Hitler, Saddam was a joke. Pursuing him to Baghdad was not a vital U.S. interest. And also the U.S. should not be the handmaiden of Likud.

You can’t expect businessmen, religious people (Catholics, and many Protestants and Jews also), and taxpayers in general to support these enormously expensive and counterproductive strategies.

It’s not that I want to throw Wolfowitz to the wolves, I just want him to get some vacation time.

I learned Wolfstar still thinks Saddam Hussein planned 9/11.

Are you really so clueless, or just baiting folks into further **cough** debate with you?

Finally, don’t tell yourself that I am some kind of moderate, dainty Republican. If I saw Al Franken I’d kick him down the stairs I promise you.

I don't know your political persuasion, nor do I care what it is. I do know that anyone who asserts the following has bought the Leftist line about Iraq hook, line, sinker, and bait:

Wars of choice must be avoided (particularly if the evidence that directs our decision to go to war is faulty).

Given that you spout the Leftist line, and that your vanity post reads like a textbook anti-Semitic screed, not many people around here are going to take you seriously. Poor lad. So sad. Came to a forum, spouted crap and was reamed for it. All that's left (ooops) for you to do is...

I've always wanted to do this on an IBTZ thread. Here's what the article looked like before the MODS zapped it.

Oh, by the way, IBTZ.

What you haven't learned is that when you are talking trash about a FReeper, you should "ping" that person.
