"Martial Law" In House of Representatives
Burgess House Gov and Republicans House Gov ^

From Congressman Burgess's site:

News "Martial Law" In House of Representatives

Washington, Sep 28, 2008 - Under the martial law procedure, long-standing House rules that require at least one day between the unveiling of significant legislation and the House floor vote on that legislation — so that Members can learn what they are being asked to vote on — are swept away. Instead, under “martial law,” the Leadership can file legislation with tens or hundreds of pages of fine print and move immediately to debate and votes on it, before Members of Congress, the media, or the public have an opportunity to understand fully what provisions have been altered or inserted into the legislation behind closed doors. This is the procedure that the Leadership intends to use to muscle through important bills in the next two days.

I haven’t read the entire thread. Has anyone called a congressman’s office to clarify this?

Is it related to this? Inhofe’s people are generally helpful, perhaps we should call his office.

Was this only in the house of reps? Wouldn’t martial law have to be a joint res with the Senate?

Thanks for the heads up. I'd heard a little bit about this but you've provided a great deal more here. I need to study this for a while before I comment, other than to say this looks very bad for our country.

Please ping me if you dig up more info, Cal.

(BTW, how dem chickens doin'? ;-)

Aloha Nut Cracker in Chief!

I checked this out early this morning before work and wanted to get back to it. This seems to be Business as Usual since the 2006 elections.

I didn't read through all the posts but one struck a fancy. 'Why don't all the Republicans walk out.'

Well why the hell don't they......and drag a few 'Blue dog' democrats with them, denying the House a quorum.

At this point, no legislation is good legislation!

Thanks for Post #100.

You're very welcome.

You got that right-----"We need to follow the money and connect the dots."

I keep wondering how much of this trillion dollar mess is the work of Obama's COS, Rahm Emanuel ---a crude individual who has shown contempt for America and its grounding principles. You get the feeling this calculating little twerp is angling to see the US fail.

Here's Rahm "saluting" America on inauguration day.

I think this is what you may be looking for.

On Thursday Sept 15, 2008 at roughly 11 AM The Federal Reserve noticed a tremendous draw down of money market accounts in the USA to the tune of $550 Billion dollars in a matter of an hour or two. Money was being removed electronically.

The Treasury tried to help, opened their window and pumped in $150 Billion but quickly realized they could not stem the tide. We were having an electronic run on the banks. So they decided to closed down the accounts.

Had they not closed down the accounts they estimated that by 2 PM that afternoon. Within 3 hours. $5.5 Trillion would have been withdrawn and the entire economy of the United States would have collapsed, and within 24 hours the world economy would have collapsed.

Testimony of Rep. Paul Kanjorski, Pennsylvania

Depends on a lot of different factors, but the short answer is “no.”

Good find. This will be significant in the connect-the-dots effort.

Apparently not in a Pelosi Politburo. Even the ACLU tried hitting NorthCom with a suit for stationing our troops inside the US. But Martial Law only needed to be on paper. And it is.
