The public may have liked the presidents big speech, but the GOP isnt worried. Insiders say theyre raring for a fight, and that they think Obamas in a very vulnerable position.
...
I feel sorry for him sometimes, confided a senior Republican House member about President Obama. He invited us over to the White House to explain to us how the stimulus plan is working, and how the budget is going to work, and he spoke to us a couple of times. He doesnt act like he knows whats going on with the economy. Hes so afraid of confrontation, when you challenge him, he backs off, like he doesnt know the right answer. Who does? Thats why you kinda feel sorry for him. Not his guys, they dont act like they know. Do they notice the stock market sinking? Who doesnt? Theres this sense of disarray. The administration is made up of a lot of Number twos. The only one with any gravitas is [David] Axelrod. Geithner? He looks like hes 12-years-old, or a grad student. The president is like a perfect vice president. Thats what the big speech was like. A vice president was talking.

You precisely paraphrase and summarize my position on this whole thing, point by point. Well written! I suspect we are in for a world of hurt though, in spite of your, and my, “hope”.
I watched the same speech the GOP insiders did, and came away with completely different impression. I think they must have been sniffing glue on this one.
These insiders (GOP staffers on the hill) are a real problem for us. I think we should throw them out and start with some new conservative blood.
Great speech maker, empty head.
Ya ask him a hard question related to anything difficult and he is a zero.
They want to jump on the 'extended unemployment benefits' band wagon.
It's getting to be nice beach & surfing weather.
Obama’s favorite two words: UHHH and UMMM.
Just a few days ago, the Repubs were arguing Obama wouldn’t give in on what they wanted in the stimulus bill, and now they say he’s weak and can’t stand up to them.
So which is it? It would be good to know the truth, but don’t think it’s possible to get that out of any politician, Republican or Democrat.
No, actually, he smells strongly. Or at least his policy proposals do.
No! Nooooooooooo! *splat*
Where’s the optimism dude?
now that a utopian socialist is president
Obama looks more like a Marxist than a utopian socialist. That seems to be the opinion on FR too.
>>Wheres the optimism dude?<<
Sometimes the sky really IS falling. Once one acknowledges that, preparations for the possibility can be made.
Of course, that is where my analogy breaks down. You can’t do much to prepare for your chute not opening, once you’ve jumped out of the plane.
But he has a pretty smile!
What school ya going to in Va?
Yeah, a utopian socialist is a misguided fool.
A Marxist is intentionally malignant.
Virginia Highlands Community College. Cheapest place to go. For the moment.
Yea, feeling sorry for him. Unbelievable, the Stupid Party lives.
Ah,
Abingdon area.
Been there many times,
quite beautiful.
Yes it is. I like it, it’s different from Texas in so many ways (including state income tax (argh!)).
These people think they smell weakness yet they keep getting knocked on their butts. And until they wise up they might as well not get up off the ground and keep embarrassing themselves.
That's one more than the Republicans have.
