"I ordered chicken nuggets. They don't have chicken nuggets, and so I told her, 'Just give me my money back,' and she tells me I have to pick something else off the menu. She is not going to give me my money back, and she don't have the right to take my money." It's so wonderful for two totally idiotic people to actually run into each other rather than the usual, which is to run into one of us.
That said, the woman who wouldn't return the money should be fired. With all the people looking for work, McDonalds' can do better.

It sounds like she called the police to report a theft. I agree....I'm not sure what I would have done....I don't know the number of the NON 911 to call the police. Theft is theft. (Not sure I would have called two more times)

“How can you justify that statement?”
The woman is an idiot for calling 911! 911 is for emergencies, and chicken nuggets are not an emergency!
To: WildcatClan
Emergency ~ like "I'm being robbed", and there it is. Sure this was an appropriate call for 911. Exactly what was going on in the 911 dispatcher's mind? Does she imagine chicken McNuggets are still 69cents a box or something.
Take a look at the price they charge for those suckers these days.

Well, that’s why I queried about the cash register system. But calling 911? No way is that justified!

The yellow pages at the local McDonald's has been pretty well destroyed by the illegal alien day laborers coming in and stuffing the toilets with it.
Not likely you can get a white pages either ~

I called the 800 number. The reply was that Mickey D's was going to refund her money and throw in a couple of Arch cards.
I blasted them for that.
Told them that they should at least pick up some of her legal costs and write a letter to the Judge asking for some consideration that when people are robbed, they do call the cops.

Again, if this was some transient working from a card table, no problem.

I agree. Why would McDonald’s not give her the money back? I think McDonald’s owes her an apology and some Chicken McNuggets.

No, it is a civil matter, not a crime. Merchants often mistakenly take an order and payment only to find that they cannot deliver.
I surely agree that a refund would be appropriate. (I tend to believe that this woman is simply lying. I’ll bet McDonalds first offered a substitute, then a refund. I’ve never had any problem getting a refund from a McDonalds.)
It only might be a crime if you could prove that the McDonald’s intended, all along, to take the money and keep it for a product they didn’t have. Good luck with that theory of prosecution.

We watch after some of the interests of a family friend who is retarded. He's been robbed several times going to and from work. He has his instructions ~ CALL 911 ~ don't wait to get home because you might forget you've been robbed.
The "authorities" are in error ~ we taught this kid "911". When he calls them we expect action.

You're in "Victoria" ~ although state laws vary, the behavior of this crew at McDonalds is bizarre enough to believe they'd been taken over by a group of criminals.
We've had several instances around the DC area over the years where fast food restaurants were in the process of being robbed and customers continue to be served by the robbers.
The woman was correct to call 911 if only to attract police attention to something going on that was way over the line.

You have what can be charitably described as an expansive view of what constitutes an emergency for 911 purposes. I’ll leave it at that.
