I am also concerned personally for Governor Sebelius. Her appointment as Secretary for HHS places her in a position where she will have to make many decisions that will in all probability continue her personal involvement in promoting legalized abortion and her cooperation in this intrinsic evil.

She joins Vice-President Joe Biden, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, and unfortunately a host of Catholic Senators and members of the House of Representatives who support legalized abortion contrary to the clear and consistent teaching of their Church. It saddens me that so many Catholics, to gain political advancement, have chosen to compromise their Catholic faith by their failure to defend the most fundamental of all human rights – the right to life.

The Pope could stop this crapola overnight if he threatened to ex-communicate all these pro abortion politicians.
Why isn’t our church excommunicating Catholics that espouse and advance abortion?
I wish that would be the case, but, sadly, I think that these politicians (Nancy Pelosi, Joe Biden, Sebellius, and others) put their power above their faith. It is very saddening to me.

I think this is what was said to Pelosi in Rome. One reason why there was no photo op and it was played down by Pelosi.
The problem is that it would still have to be enforced at the actual diocesan level by the bishop of that diocese. There are 230 US bishops, and only 16 have indicated that they would prevent pro-abortion “Catholic” politicians from receiving Communion.
Now, if push came to shove and the Pope issued an order of some sort, or specifically excommunicated certain individuals, other bishops would probably come forward and support him. But I am sure that in the US, there would be many bishops who would simply ignore it. This means that we have the potential for a split in the Church: the “American Church” or the “Patriotic Church,” or whatever Mahony and his ilk are going to call it, and the Roman Catholic Church. I think it will probably come to this, but I don’t think the Pope is ready to deal with this quite yet.
Maybe I’m being too pessimistic, but we have a lot of weak sisters among our bishops, and to them, being well thought of by the press and the Dem party is more important than anything else. I think a split will come soon in any case, probably over Obama’s mandated performance of abortions by health care providers, however, so it’s probably just a matter of time.
On a Saturday afternoon, in Washington, D. C., Senator John Kerry’s campaign manager visited the Cardinal of the Catholic Cathedral.
He told the Cardinal that John Kerry would be attending the next day’s sermon, and he asked if the Cardinal would kindly point out Kerry to the congregation and say a few words that would include calling
Kerry a saint.
The Cardinal replied, “No. I don’t really like the man, and there are issues of conflict with the Catholic Church over a certain number of Kerry’s views.”
Kerry’s manager then said, “Look, I’ll write a check here and now for a donation of $100,000 to your church if you’ll just tell the congregation you see Kerry as a saint.”
The Cardinal thought about it and said, “Well, the church can use
the money, so I’ll work your request into tomorrow’s sermon.”
As Kerry’s campaign manager promised, Senator Kerry appeared for the Sunday sermon and seated himself prominently at the edge of the main isle.
And, during the sermon, as promised, the Cardinal pointed out
that Senator Kerry was present.
Then the Cardinal went on to explain to the congregation — “While Senator
Kerry’s presence is probably an honor to some, he is not my favorite person.
Some of his views are contrary to those of the church, and he tends to flip-flop on many other views.
John Kerry is a petty, self-absorbed hypocrite, a thumb sucker, and a nit-wit. John Kerry is also a serial liar, a cheat, and a thief.
John Kerry is the worst example of a Catholic I have ever personally witnessed.
He turned on his buddies in Vietnam.
He wrote a book and portrayed himself in the best light when he was a traitor to his fellow servicemen.
He has lied about his military record and had the gall to put himself in for a medal (including one that does not even exist).
He married for money and is using it to lie to the American people.
He also has a reputation for shirking his senatorial obligations both here, in
Washington, and in Massachusetts.
He simply is not to be trusted.”
The Cardinal completed his view of Kerry with, “But, when compared to Senator Ted Kennedy, Senator Kerry is a saint.”
Other bishops, even the very best ones, have, like Bp. Naumann, only made statements to the effect that these politicians are in error. Some go so far as to say that pro-abort Catholic politicos ought to voluntarily refrain from receiving Communion. None --- other than Martino --- have actually gone so far as to enforce Canon Law.
Why are these bishops themsselves, in effect, scofflaws? Some will say a Bishop who actually bars a "manifest grave sinner" from Communion is politicizing the Eucharist. This is not so. Rather, the Eucharist is politicized and profaned by men and women who call themselves "Catholics in good standing" while persisting in what the Second Vatican Council called "abominable crimes."
Some will worry that denying reception of the Eucharist would be treating erring politicians un-pastorally. This is not so. A person who commits abortion, or is a material accomplice, and is turned away from Communion, is finally receiving the pastoral care he needs: the un-finesse-able message that he is in the gravest spiritual danger and that he needs to repent and be freed of his cooperation in this filthy and damnable sin.
When will Archbishop Naumann love Kathleen Sebelius enough to tell her the truth about her condition, and act to prevent her from committing further acts of sacrilege?
Pray for the bishops to turn from their own complicity.
All of us who have been silent have been complicit.
Still, if the Pope made a public example of them and threatened to do it we would see the rubber hit the road and see who actually would stick with the church and forsake their evil ways or who would come right out and admit they are Catholic in Name Only and don’t even care if they are excommunicated.
Probably for the same reasons that the USA doesn't use regarding illegal aliens (whether it be laws on the books, moral and ethical laws, respect for the Bible and the Constitution, and preserving the church/country for its survival and future).
People like Pelosi, Biden and Sebelius are not Catholics or even people of faith. They do not believe in any of the spiritual or moral tenets of the church. They do not even try to do God's will. The best that can be said is that they are Catholics like Al Capone was a Catholic.

This is diocesan speak for excommunication. The Governor cannot be considered 'Catholic' until she repents her position and accepts the Church's teaching.
Sure, she will call herself a 'Catholic', and the press will call her a 'Catholic', but she has, in fact, been excommunicated.
I don’t care about “diocesan speak”; coming from the Pope it would carry MUCH more weight and be more news worthy. MSM don’t care about local diocese.
techincally, you can't just believe in only what you want to believe and say you belong to a particular religion....you're either in or not in......
if someone wants to make up the rules as they go, there is the unitarian universalist church.....they worhip everything and NOTHING at the same time, whatever suits them...
Call your Senators and relay your distress over this nomination.
The Archbishop of Kansas City archdiocese has already told Sibelius not to receive Communion. By supporting abortion she has already excommunicated herself.
Her archbishop did excommunicate her by telling her that she could not receive Communion.
