I wouldn’t have blasted him with pepper spray, but this guy sounds like a real dick.
And I thought Pepper Spray was a defensive weapon.
Is that how the new order will enforce their orders?
I think I could have humored the jerk and said please at least once before he got sprayed or even worse tased.
At least the victim is admiting he asked the agent to say please. I have heard several stories of law enforcement pulling people over and sometimes pulling them out of their cars. I, myself was pulled over once going to work about a year ago. He was yelling and jumping up and down because I didn’t stop and he said I was blocking his way to a traffic accident. Not true the freeway was clear. In fact, I really never say him. He was on a Mickey Mouse motercyle and never showed any identification that he was a cop. I just kept repeating Right Officer. I told my boss and he said I did the right thing; but since I didn’t have a cell phone at that time I had to wait to report him. I never heard whether he was real or not. All I know was he was madder than anyone I have ever seen.
So you never know.
This one is a hoot -—say please to me officer LOL!
Folks get the pepper spray for asking to hear "please" when they stop at the border for inspection.
Meanwhile, terrorists and criminals sneak and crawl across our borders free as birds.
Like my papaw always said, “It don’t hurt none to be polite, but demanding it others might get ya pepper-sprayed” :)
I got ticketed once for the crime of walking my dog off-leash.
The cop was enraged and abusive (!?). He wanted to give me a beat-down so bad I could taste it.
So I was real careful and didn’t give him any excuses.
I think Tom Paine called it: “common sense.”
You never know what the last Canadian liberal dope smoking puke had said to him either. He may be lucky he didn't get tazed.
Border etiquette isn't a right, it's a dice roll.
Excellent.
I know the Blaine Border Crossing well, having been born and raised in Vancouver and having used that crossing often.
It is an extremely busy crossing and given the number of people the border guards need to process accurately, they do very well to manage to be pleasant most of the time.
But they do not have a sense of humor, neither does their boss require them to develop one. They may remember to say “please” but as often as not they don’t. They don’t mean anything by that, it’s just that they have umpteen-squillion more cars to go in a line-up that goes most of the way back to White Rock.
The trick at Blaine is (surprise, surprise) answer the questions properly, don’t waste time, and be polite even if the border guard is terse. He/she means no offense by being terse, but he/she is also probably mightily bored and wouldn’t mind some variety: like catching a smuggler or a terrorist or a fugitive. Or you, in a pinch, for being a smartass.
This twerp deserved to be peppersprayed and cuffed: everybody stuck in the lineup behind him would agree. He was just slowing everything down for everyone, being a smartass. The wait at the Douglas/Blaine border crossing is long enough without petty smartasses gumming up the works.
Good on the border guard, I hope he hosed him down plenty with the pepperspray so he never does that again. Lesson learned.
They loudly defy all forms of tyranny from behind their keyboards. But give them an example of a man who stands up and demands to be treated as a man, they will kiss the hand that strikes him down.
The replies on these threads are shameful.
I lived in Seattle for 21 years and often passed back and forth into Canada thru Blaine.
The Border Custom officers there notorious for being REAL A-holes.
A lawyer friend informed me that their jobs give them complete authority to act in any way they wish: browbeat you, tear your car apart, hold you without due process, etc. Like the IRS, they are above any and all legal accountability...even congressional.
The result of giving that kind of power to little, pin-headed Hitlers is just asking for abuse of the authority entrusted to them. Lots of big heads with too much testosterone in Blaine. They seem to really enjoy pushing their weight around, because they know they can.
I had numerous unpleasant experiences with them for no reasons whatsoever; they assume everyone is a criminal or hiding something. They can be very invalidating and humiliating. IMO, someone needs to take them down a few notches.
Ecclesiastes 5:8 If you see oppression of the poor and denial of justice and righteousness in the province, do not be shocked at the sight, for one official watches over another official, and there are higher officials over them.
Well, did the cop at least say “Have a nice day” after he sprayed the guy”?....
So let me get this straight...He told you repeatedly or he would. You didn't. And he did? Right?
