Barack Obama 'too tired' to give proper welcome to Gordon Brown
The London Telegraph ^ | March 7, 2009 | Tim Shipman

Posted on 03/07/2009 12:16:38 PM PST by 2ndDivisionVet

Barack Obama's offhand approach to Gordon Brown's Washington visit last week came about because the president has facing exhaustion over America's economic crisis and is unable to focus on foreign affairs, the Sunday Telegraph has been told.

Sources close to the White House say Mr Obama and his staff have been "overwhelmed" by the economic meltdown and have voiced concerns that the new president is not getting enough rest.

British officials, meanwhile, admit that the White House and US State Department staff were utterly bemused by complaints that the Prime Minister should have been granted full-blown press conference and a formal dinner, as has been customary. They concede that Obama aides seemed unfamiliar with the expectations that surround a major visit by a British prime minister.

But Washington figures with access to Mr Obama's inner circle explained the slight by saying that those high up in the administration have had little time to deal with international matters, let alone the diplomatic niceties of the special relationship.

Allies of Mr Obama say his weary appearance in the Oval Office with Mr Brown illustrates the strain he is now under, and the president's surprise at the sheer volume of business that crosses his desk.

A well-connected Washington figure, who is close to members of Mr Obama's inner circle, expressed concern that Mr Obama had failed so far to "even fake an interest in foreign policy".

A British official conceded that the furore surrounding the apparent snub to Mr Brown had come as a shock to the White House. "I think it's right to say that their focus is elsewhere, on domestic affairs. A number of our US interlocutors said they couldn't quite understand the British concerns and didn't get what that was all about."

“I wonder if he’ll ever take up his old coke habit again.”

You know, just about every drug study in the world woul profile him as a current user...still smoking is quite a “tell” not that it is scientific, but his history is pretty radical drug use, I think...we do NOT have the missing Columbia years, for instnce...no one there rmembres him but his two Paki friends...

"The one real serious flaw I see in Barack Obama is that he thinks he can manage all this," the well-known figure told a Washington official, who spoke to this newspaper. "He's underestimating the flood of things that will hit his desk." A Democratic strategist, who is friends with several senior White House aides, revealed that the president has regularly appeared worn out and drawn during evening work sessions with senior staff in the West Wing and has been forced to make decisions more quickly than he is comfortable.

This is where some actually management or executive experience would come in handy.

He's in over his head in every way...and he's beginning to realize it.

He's a slacker and is in way over his head. He's used to playing all day and now he can't. How many trips on Air Force one since he moved into the WH? They weren't there a WEEK before they said that they had to get out. we have a lazy kid running this country. Lovely!

If they can so badly botch the visit of a PM, what else are they botching? What else are they screwing up real bad, but no one has noticed quite yet?

OK - now I'm getting scared.

I have said it often before, and I say it again: Obama is headed for a break-down. I figured it would be in about a year, but looks like sooner. He cannot handle the heat. This self-promoting imposter has no leadership skills, is not capable of handling the pace of the job; and has never even worked at a real job...nor one for more than 2 years steadily where he had to actually do anything significant.

He spent most of his Senate time writing his books and not being a voting Senator who actually knew what the bills were about. He has spent his life playing "Who am I?"

Now, he is the president and has no ability to do anything...except make excuses about being "tired" because the work is too hard for him!

What did he expect - A rose garden? Whoops, I forgot, he has one now, LOL...but it seems all the Obama administration can produce from it are thorns that plague him. Working is not like campaigning, he is learning. The cheering crowds are no longer there ready to adore him. He has to produce...and that word is not in his Harvard dictionary!

How sad to read to this. President Bush was in bed early (etoh free) and up early to greet the sunrise. He valued and respected the leaders of others countries. If Obama thinks that he can do whatever he wants, he is sadly mistaken. You would think that someone on his staff would have listened to a crabby older secretary that must have muttered “You need to host a dinner and use the good china.” “Oh, and you should probably dress up and have a present ready to go...” sigh...

“Obama is drowing.”

Yeah, but America is being waterboarded by this “President”, IMHO...it just feels like we are drowning, but we’ll be back, which is more than I can say for this Mutt in the WH...I don’t think he’ll be back, if he isn’t dumped out on his sorry Kenyan ass even sooner than 4 years...there is WAY too much wrong with this guy...

Dear UK,

A lot of us are embarrassed that we have such a pathetic excuse for a president. However, partying most nights in the White House with his buddies CAN make a guy too tired to perform his presidential duties.

Unfortunately he isn’t too tired to destroy our economy (and yours as well, most likely).

Sincerely,
Folks who knew better than to vote for the phony
