Barack Obama 'too tired' to give proper welcome to Gordon Brown
The London Telegraph ^ | March 7, 2009 | Tim Shipman

Posted on 03/07/2009 12:16:38 PM PST by 2ndDivisionVet

Barack Obama's offhand approach to Gordon Brown's Washington visit last week came about because the president has facing exhaustion over America's economic crisis and is unable to focus on foreign affairs, the Sunday Telegraph has been told.

Sources close to the White House say Mr Obama and his staff have been "overwhelmed" by the economic meltdown and have voiced concerns that the new president is not getting enough rest.

British officials, meanwhile, admit that the White House and US State Department staff were utterly bemused by complaints that the Prime Minister should have been granted full-blown press conference and a formal dinner, as has been customary. They concede that Obama aides seemed unfamiliar with the expectations that surround a major visit by a British prime minister.

But Washington figures with access to Mr Obama's inner circle explained the slight by saying that those high up in the administration have had little time to deal with international matters, let alone the diplomatic niceties of the special relationship.

Allies of Mr Obama say his weary appearance in the Oval Office with Mr Brown illustrates the strain he is now under, and the president's surprise at the sheer volume of business that crosses his desk.

A well-connected Washington figure, who is close to members of Mr Obama's inner circle, expressed concern that Mr Obama had failed so far to "even fake an interest in foreign policy".

A British official conceded that the furore surrounding the apparent snub to Mr Brown had come as a shock to the White House. "I think it's right to say that their focus is elsewhere, on domestic affairs. A number of our US interlocutors said they couldn't quite understand the British concerns and didn't get what that was all about."

"It is going to have to get very very very ugly before the American people have a chance to send in somebody better..."

We can't afford to wait, not even for mid-terms. Let me be the first to suggest he should peacably be forced to resign from office via impeachment. It won't be many weeks from now before lots of citizens and enough congress-critters start looking for a way out of this disaster. Dems know they'll pay dearly for Obama's inexperience and wrong-headedness. It's quite clear Barky doesn't have the best interests of this country in mind. Let me ask the libs if they're willing to pay a heavy price for holding their ground and failing to admit their mistaken support for a spoiled incompetent.

Biden with a conservative house and/or senate works for me until '12.

Ronald Reagan did not have any trouble with the amount of work that crossed his desk. Mr. Obama should read “The Reagan Diaries”. That book gives an excellent look at the day-to-day operations of Office of the President.

"This... uh, is a message to Al Qaida and terrorists everywhere... Until I get more, uh, used to this job, I ask that you please withhold all, um, terrorist attacks on United States soil and, um, property. It would be too much for me at this point, as I find myself, uh, in over my head."

Let's see, aside from the fact that they're our allies, perhaps the fact that they have boomers sets them apart from the other 190 countries...

Well, The UK IS full of "typical white people".

I have no doubt that Obama would call someone else to handle the problem, roll over an go back to sleep. The next day we would hear that Obama was deeply saddened by the "mishap" and is doing everything in his power to address the situation.

His gang of enablers are so practiced, they will even say the very same words expressed by Clinton, Daschle, Reed, Pelosi, and the rest of the band of culprits.

What would it take for the Democrat-controlled House and Senate to get that process started?

I guess “community organizing” isn’t good preparation for being POTUS.

It's a step above printing posters for protest marches.

If I were President right now I would not take a bleeping vacation while so many Americans are out of work (due to him). This man has NO leadership qualities. To spur on and inspire his army, General Washington would ride his horse into the line of fire first. Even Bush said he would not play golf as long as he has troops in harm’s way. What’s Obama giving up?

Maybe this is a good thing, for the long term, that Obama "happened." Maybe our country will not go all "Messiah" in another presidential election again, if we can remember this. Um, if we live through it...

Wonder how many people this weekend are scrubbing Obama stickers off their cars??

A few dems fearing for their lives and their jobs.

Once the whispers start, knowing full well it’s not going to get any better, he’d make up a health excuse and resign.
