Rasmussen Poll: Honeymoon ending quickly
Data from Rasmussen, historical polling ^ | 03-07-09 | Dangus

Posted on 03/07/2009 2:57:19 PM PST by dangus

RasmussenReports' new daily tracking poll has President Barrack Obama receiving his lowest approval rating since immediately after the election, 56%. 43% of Americans generally disapprove of his performance, 31% strongly do.

Obama's approval rating was immediately after the election was 52%. As is typical after an election (according to longer-standing polls, such as Gallup), America put aside its partisan feelings, giving the newly elected the benefit of the doubt: his approvals rose to 67% over the course of the next month, peaking at 69%. They stayed in that range, which was high even for a newly elected president, until inauguration day.

Since his inauguration, Obama's presidential approval index (Rasmussen's measure of strong approval minus strong disapproval) plunged by nearly three quarters. Within a week, his approval rating reached 60%; It;s fluctuated slightly within each week, bouncing as high as 63%, but his weekly approval rating average has declined each week.

Each new low has occurred over a weekend; each midweek sees his approval ratings bounce slightly, so he may be slightly better off then 56%. A week ago, he polled at 58%, and Newsweek's most recent poll matches that. Fox News, on the other hand is closer to 63%.

Other presidents' approval ratings have surged in this time. President George W. Bush was inaugurated with approval ratings barely cracking 50%, but they surged to the mid-60s. Reagan's moved from the mid-50s to nearly 70%. George H.W. Bush's reached the high 70s. Clinton moved to the mid-60s; Kennedy and Carter also reached the 70s. Only the unelected Gerald Ford saw his approval ratings decline so soon after inauguration.

Sorry, a vote for Sebby is a vote to KILL children in all 50 states and around the world. Brownback is flat out wrong on this.

Well, get over it.

It is not your call, and the alternatives to Brownback, in this state, are all terrible.

I've even "poked" them with some mild anti-Obama stuff recently, but I haven't seen a single head explode. Must be some serious shell shock.

I got that "Ten Most Expensive Disasters (Plus 1)" e-mail a few weeks ago. I immediately forwarded it to my left-leaning sister and cousin. No reply from either of them yet. I guess their sense of smug superiority is a bit tattered these days.

Someone should start a pool for when it tanks below 50% .

Yes. Because you are eliminating the disemination of news that we have today. Everyone can get OR spread news. If it is bad folks are NOT so likely to stand by and watch it happen.

If Rush left the scene folks would just get the bad news off the Internet. Think about YouTube. Think about blogs.

Rush is entertaining but not near as brutal or as quick with the news as FR is.

Sorry, your post just reminded me of the MSM’s and Obama’s campaign to get Rush. If there was no Rush I would just get it from FR.

Or don't you remember Dan Rather quit because FR (Buckhead) caught him lying. Sorry, you were not here. But I was here that night and saw it all develop. A thing of beauty and no one told us to watch it unravel.

Rush was NOT involved until days later.

It’s also worthy of note that George W. Bush’s approval ratings hit a high of 91% (the higest ever recorded) in the wake of 9-11. Barry’s numbers are dropping like a rock, but what does he do to improve them? I can’t see them getting any better unless there is some sort of foreign “crisis.” MSNBC can only prop him up so long before even the uninformed public begin to see the crap hit the fan.

“This is all about Stalin, Marx, Alinsky, Castro and Chavez...”

Your forgot Antonio Gramsci...and Americans need to understand what he wrote if we ever are going to stop it before it completely happens.

Could you please cite which of his works should receive our special attention? I've been trying to find the one where he counsels that Marxism should conduct a "long march through the institutions" of society (religion, education, entertainment, etc.) but haven't found out where he wrote it. This might have been in his Selections from the Prison Notebooks (International Publishers Co., 2008).

Well, you posted a HUGE amount of material, that was only very loosely germane to the topic, you insulted a very strong leader of the prolife movement, and you came off as someone who had no respect for the opinions, time, strategy or beliefs of others -—

Hey...you are very mistaken. I NEVER...posted anything to you but ONE QUESTION!

So, YES, I think you should calm down.

Go back and look...and then come back to me and apologize. Ha!

Turn around, you are shooting at your friends, hurting your friends, when your bullets should be used on the real enemy!

Go look in the mirror...bub.

LOL!! You are not doing yourself and favors here with me.........

BTW, would you like to answer my original question????

Hey Kansas......I agree with narses on this point. Brownback should NOT be vocally supporting your Gov.

Period.

Because GUESS WHAT....she's going to get confirmed whether or not Brownback said anything.

Btw, Kansas....you owe me an apology.

Thanks-

President Clinton’s turnaround was the bombing of Oklahoma City’s Murrah building; he used it to slander Republicans as extremists (turns out McViegh was closer to bin Laden then Gingrich, but why let facts get in the way), and to appear strong. Problem for Obama is that any terrorist attack will be seen as due to his weakness. Frankly, there’s only one disaster that could turn things around for the Democrats, and I won’t mention for fear it’ll seem like I’d want it to happen. (I don’t; President Biden would truly be a disaster!)

Strikes me that sending Sebelius to DC represents a quantum improvement for Kansas.

Very well
I attributed posts to you that were actually made by narses, my apologies -—

But I hardly see where it matters, as you do agree with him on the issue, however, it was not you that hijacked the thread.

Again, point taken.

Apologies accepted.

But all does matter....You went off on a tangent that I had nothing to do with....All I did was ask you a simple question.

Did you read what I said....? Why did Brownback have to "endorse" her? He could have just stayed silent about it....

It makes "us" look weak, look "go along to get-along" like....It makes "us" appear like we are just symbolism over substance...just like the Libs.

FWIW-

I do wish Brownback had simply remained silent.
However, I trust that he had his reasons.
Perhaps some deal making took place, somewhere, who knows?
As you say, Sebelius would get the confirmation for the appointment anyway.
So, Brownback had a bit of a tin ear and said “OK” to something he could not stop anyway.
I wish he had played it better, but he is not a “traitor” in any sense of the word.

All I know is that, in this state, the media has been successful in painting even some moderately conservative Republicans and “radicals” and they painted our former AG, Phil Kline, as a far right nut, which he did not deserve.

Brownback is aware of that. He votes correctly, when it counts, but he does make some of these empty PR moves from time to time that I wish he would not do.

It must help him, however, he is one of the most popular Republicans in the state.
