My brother "carries" now in Georgia. Got jumped coming out of a Krugers by some destitutes. Watch your back when you’re loading your groceries. Isn’t as safe as it used to be, that’s for sure.

I have family (in-laws) in Dunwoody, and while we love them dearly, they have a different "view" of the world than we do. My 18 yr old (then 17) was in the truck with his cousin waiting on my wife to return from a fabric store, and they were in a "nice" area. Some vagrant looking guy tried BOTH truck doors. But by the time he got to the passenger side where my son was sitting, he had a pistol in his hand. The doors were locked and everybody "walked away" unharmed afterwards. I'm grateful for this.

You've got a good point though...loading groceries, using the ATM...any place that some thug might think he has an advantage.

Even at our small church (typically, fewer than 150 people at 11:00 worship service), we have someone with a CCW permit patrolling the grounds and building during the service. There have been several highly publicized incidents (robberies, disruptions, etc.) during worship at churches in nearby towns.

The story I read said that the gunman also had a knife which he pulled after the gun jammed.
The parishoners tackled him. Didn’t say any parishoners had any knives.
IIRC it also said the gunman was stabbing himself as well as others.

Fox said the gunman had the knife. Near the end of the article.

Daylilly, if you keep reading the thread, you’ll find my post saying the exact same thing. The story was fast developing, and as more news came out, things changed.

Per the artice you posted, the perp has Left Temporal Lobe brain damage. Here's the skinny on that:

"Kolb & Wishaw (1990) have identified eight principle symptoms of temporal lobe damage: 1) disturbance of auditory sensation and perception, 2) disturbance of selective attention of auditory and visual input, 3) disorders of visual perception, 4) impaired organization and categorization of verbal material, 5) disturbance of language comprehension, 6) impaired long-term memory, 7) altered personality and affective behavior, 8) altered sexual behavior. Selective attention to visual or auditory input is common with damage to the temporal lobes (Milner, 1968). Left side lesions result in decreased recall of verbal and visual content, including speech perception. Right side lesions result in decreased recognition of tonal sequences and many musical abilities. Right side lesions can also effect recognition of visual content (e.g. recall of faces)."

Hearing voices, I wonder? Of course, he could just be demon-posessed.

I have been reading this and I have to wonder...What the heck was this young man doing driving anywhere?I assume he was mad at God but didn’t his family notice that he was getting agitated?

"Idiot Demoncrats and pastors argued that: "Churches are sancutaries, not armories"."

The liberals can't possibly fathom that the main over-riding quality of "sanctuary" is defense.

And if the door doesn't hold...

..do what ya gotta do.

"Hmm, why don’t you just go to a “conservative” church."

Conservative churches are few and far between.

If you can find one, by all means protect it.

I think my minister may be a stupid liberal.

Ever notice how difficult it is to pin them down on an issue and get them to make a clear position statement?

And you wouldn't think there would even be a question.

Say...abortion, for instance, or freedom, or you name it.

I guess my point was that you can’t ban liberals from church and you can’t ban liberal churches, so...

Could this be an indication that I need to start carrying my concealed into the pulpit? I am seriously considering it at this point. I believe God permits us to protect ourselves and others. From this point forward, don’t come into the church I pastor to shoot anyone — I will shoot back!

“His family has a great deal to answer for.”

Boy, you must know a lot more than we do. I guess you are privy to who owned the vehicle and how he got it. You must somehow know that the family gave him the gun or that he planned to go kill people?

"I guess my point was that you can’t ban liberals from church and you can’t ban liberal churches, so..."

I would like to ban liberals from my church.

Does that make me a "bad" man?

In my experience, MOST churches are either liberal at the corporate level, or at the congregational level.

Paradoxically, they all seem to think that the more Christian attitude is to be a flaming liberal rather than a conservative.

Frankly, I just don't get it. Where is it written?

A lot of men that I know carry a knife at all times, along with their wallet. It is not for self defense, it’s purely utilitarian.

That’s really strange. They said Travis the Chimp was suffering from Lyme disease when he ripped off that woman’s face.

I did not know that Lyme disease could turn men and animals into homicidal maniacs.

“I would like to ban liberals from my church.”

The problem with your plan is who would be appointed to decide who is liberal or who just isn’t quite conservative enough.
