State Bans Prayer at Christian Institutions ( IL )

The Illinois High School Association is being challenged on a policy that bans Christian schools from offering a prayer or any religious message over their public address systems when they host association events on their own property.

"It is blatantly unconstitutional for public school officials to come into private schools and enforce a policy prohibiting them from expressing what's central to their religious beliefs," said David Cortman, senior legal counsel for the Alliance Defense Fund, or ADF.

The ADF wrote this week to association chief Marty Hickman after several private schools complained about the new restrictions. WND left a message with Hickman seeking comment, but the call was not returned today.

“pretty soon Christmas will be outlawed?”

in some respects, it already has been...
remember last Christmas, employees were told NOT to wish customers “Merry Christmas”, Christmas parades were changed to “holiday parades” and Christmas lights & Merry Christmas signs were changed to “Holiday” lights & “Happy Holiday”...

It begins...

It began with Madalyn Murry O'Hair. This is simply the next phase.

The beginning was the acceptance of a completely twisted understanding of the Constitution. Once one has accepted the premise that the meaning of ...."Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion" .......is actually that the state should actively prohibit the public expression of religious beliefs in its schools and in government, the playing field has already been set.

This effectively establishes the principle of freedom from religion and this mistaken understanding is now almost universal. Thus, it becomes a short hop, step and a jump to arrive at the conclusion that I have a right not to even hear about your religion, even if I come to your religious school.

The whole concept of "freedom of religion" has been turned on its head to mean "freedom from religion" which is a complete myth. Furthermore, how anyone can construe having to listen to a prayer as meaning that religion is being forced upon them, is beyond me. Plug in your iPod if it bothers you that much. Ignore it. Chat to the person next to you. How many times do we have to listen to stuff we disagree with, from the guy in the next car with his stereo up too loud to the guy at the next table in the restaurant who won't shut up about the business deal he's just made.

There is no constitutional basis for the prohibition or banning of any religious expression. Anytime, anywhere. Public or private.

I guess before long it will be unconstitutional to pray in churches too.

Great post and deconstruction of this fraudulent, unconstitutional fascism in its entirety.

The excuses I’ve heard in the past: Democrats don’t get us into wars! It’s the “Doves” against the “Hawks”.

Many Christians forget that LOTS of blood had been shed throughout time defending our faith.

nah... this is FAR from the “end game”.

Extermination of Christians is nearer their end game.

Atheism is for all intents and purposes the state religion now. The changes left to be done to formalize this fact are trivial, which is itself a proof that it already is our state religion.

The absence of respect for property rights, freedom of expression, and other basic rights is astonishing in a nation that still talks about being 'the land of the free.' I don't see how any modern citizen of the U.S. can justifiably regard this as a free nation any more.

Same with the removal of the conscience clause.

Simply defy the government on these matters and demand that they must use force to make you comply or take your liberty.

Who is taking this on?

ACLJ/American Center for Law and Justice? Thomas More? Heritage Foundation?

Donate to those causes because they DO work hard to benefit Christians in the USofA.

That’s probably the wisest path.

Force the Nazis to enforce their edict and reveal themselves for what they are - with the whole world watching.

It’s the analogous to Gandhi making Salt.
